The runaway favorite of the day was a Twentieth Century lot of two 12-inch imperial jade necklaces in a brilliant green with matching gold color clasps inset with jade beads, one of which had a second gold clasp with jade drops that sold for $132,000. Speaking after the sale, auctioneer Charlie Cobb said mildly, "We are not known for our jewelry, but these did really well!"
They were estimated at $1/1,500. The necklaces came from a Baltimore area estate and went to the New York trade. Oil on canvas, Mr. Chocorua. The oil on canvas painting of a barn scene with a view of a red cape cod house & shed with Mt Chocorua in the background, signed lower right "FH Shapleigh" and on the verso "Mt Chocorua from old barn in Conway by FH Shapleigh", 10" x 16", appears to be original frame.

Buyer Beware!
I was an on-line bidder in which The Cobbs Auctioneers misrepresented a clock I purchased which I notified them immediately after receiving it in the mail to report that it did not work. They told me that it was a mistake that this info was not included in the description and to return it for a full refund including shipping both ways. I called them a couple days after the tracking showed they had received it and was transferred to a woman who claimed to be an owner. She proceeded to tell me that they would not be refunding any of my shipping and that she was reluctant to even send

Fast pace auctions, I have been personal friends with most of the people that have worked here for a while. They run a really nice auction, well put together. Rarely is there not enough room for everyone who comes. Usually you can get a good deal on something but typically need to wait until the end for the items that aren't online. Although some of these items are total junk. They have a 20% markup for all purchases and 20% fee for all sales, so basically seller gets 80% of final sale price and buyer pays 120% of final sale price or (125% with credit card). It's easy to get auction

This is a great place to go if you want to buy interesting things inexpensively. They've sold some very nice rugs and some truly exquisite paintings. All of the staff is first rate and will always greet you with a smile. The auctions are usually quite fun to watch as sometimes the aptly named runners are struggling to keep up and keep things in the proper order. Unfortunately, the auctions have become a bit infrequent, but when they happen I'll be there, paddle in hand.
