The Dofflemyer Hotel is a boutique Hill Country inn located in the historic district of downtown San Saba. The building in which our San Saba hotel operates was originally built in 1913 by W.C. Dofflemyer for the San Saba National Bank. The building was finished in artificial stone, something quite new at the time.
The second floor was leased by The San Saba Club, a gentlemen's social club of the day. It was outfitted with pool and billiard tables, a player piano, plus a parlor and reading room. The first floor of our Hill Country hotel accommodates the hotel lobby and Oliver and Co., a family-owned business that sells pecans, gourmet coffee, homemade candies, homemade ice cream, soups, and sandwiches.

This is a really nice hotel. Looks new with the modern design in the rooms and bathrooms. There seems to be only 6 rooms available and they are all on the 2nd floor. Rooms look out into the main road. There is no receptionist desk. Doors don't have keys and only use a code you enter into a keypad.
It's a great location near some stores, a coffee shop (Oliver & Co. next door) and the Visitor Center. It's within walking distance of the San Saba Courthouse and town square.
The only issue is that as you walk up via the South entrance, it's not paved. Hopefully, they will get that fixed soon.

If you are anywhere near San Saba, you owe yourself a visit to this terrific hotel.
I had a wonderful experience staying at the Dofflemyer. It is very interesting in it's history, fun to look around, the rooms are very nice and quiet, and it's CONNECTED TO A FANTASTIC COFFEE SHOP!
What more could you ask for?
Wonderful place, wonderful experience, and I can't wait to go back to San Saba and stay here again.

Nicely remodeled old building with upscale fixtures and accouterments. you check in and out online with an emergency number to a human, who unfortunately was unable to fix our tv and we missed our epic sunday nite pbs shows and 60 minutes. they said they would make an adjustment but have not 2 weeks later. great location but not on sunday when almost all restaurants are closed. perfect stop after hiking at colorado bend park about 1/2 hour away.

Beautifully-appointed boutique hotel in San Saba’s historic downtown strip. The building used to be a bank, which is cool, and the rooms, lobby and hallways are furnished with restored and refurbished accoutrements, adding to the historic-yet-modern vibe. The hotel has six rooms, no lobby (you use a code to get in), and coffee, tea, and water for guests in a shared area. If you need a room in this part of Texas, stay here. The beds are insanely comfortable

We stayed here for. Night and absolutely loved it. Such a beautiful hotel. It has been renovated from an old historic building. The lighting, decor, bathrooms, it's all top notch. Can't wait to go back.
To make it even better, there's a great cafe downstairs that serves delicious food & coffee. I recommend the americano.
If you're planning on breakfast, get there before 10, they "shut the waffle maker off at 10".

The hotel was immaculate! Linens were impeccable. Fluffy towels and residential, thick, soft not usual chain sheets. The street noise wasn’t an issue for us at all. The bed was pretty squishy for our preference and I missed a full length mirror. But those two things were extremely minor in comparison to how cool the property is! Check in process was precise and flawless. We were in town on business and I wished it had needed to have been longer!!

This boutique hotel is very cute! They have done a great job with the decor & all of the furnishings. We stayed in room #6 which is what they call the "suite". It's a little larger room at the end of the hallway so it has 2 walls of windows overlooking San Saba. I highly recommend spending the few extra dollars for this room.
For the most part our experience was good but there were a few issues. The major one was lack of communication. There is no front office so you have to call what I assume is the owners phone. We called the morning of our arrival on 2 occasions to ask

Quaint little hotel. I think there are only 5 or 6 rooms.
No service at all. Check yourself in using your personal code on the door keypads. No breakfast.
Kinda noisy at night. If you are a light sleeper, you might want to go somewhere else. They even place ear plugs beside each pillow !
OK hotel, but we really wish they had breakfast available.

Small, fairly private, a bit pricey for this location. We paid $180 night over the Easter weekend. The communication was great. This is an unattended hotel with no immediate staff. You receive an entry code via text. That code gets you into the exterior doors and your room. The keypad on the room functioned but the audible tones are annoyingly loud. There are only six rooms in this hotel and all share a common wall. So, every time your neighbor enters their code, or has to re-enter in over and over you hear it inside your room. (please disable that audible tone).

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. I wish we had booked two nights. It’s definitely a hidden gym that my husband discovered accidentally. We were going to SS to visit cemeteries where several generations of his ancestors were buried. Anyway it’s a great little town and a great place to stay. We ate at Napolis which was extremely good (best Alfredo sauce ever) and Agave, also excellent. One more suggestion - make sure you bring your own pillows unless you like them hard. I always do, but got off without them. Easy fix for an otherwise great experience.

Beautiful property. Gorgeous rooms.
However..
We were led to feel that this hotel was upholding COVID guidelines and taking necessary precautions. This was not at all the case. There wasn't hand sanitizer upon entry at all the doors which requires the use of a finger pin pad each time for all the guests. We woke up to find housekeepers congregating in the hallway without masks, cleaning rooms without any PPE (after waking us up talking on the phone in the hall all morning), went downstairs to try the coffee shop below only to find every employee behind the bar not wearing a mask while serving

Stayed her for 1 night and it was great! We had water and local pecans ready for us in the room. There was also local soap from San Saba Soap Co. The decor was fabulous, but just one word of advice: if you are accident-prone like me, you may want to wear sandals around the room because their gorgeous cast-iron beds will catch them toes😉

Part of me doesn't want to give this hotel a good review because then I know it'll get super popular and I'll never be able to book a room again...
But I also want them to stay in business so I can return...:)
We had such a lovely time staying at the Dofflemyer. Check-in was a breeze; the rooms were stylish and clean - the mattresses and linens were all high quality and there was a ceiling fan. The hotel was quiet at night. San Saba is revitalizing and everything is within walking distance to the hotel - two wineries, several restaurants (I recommend Napoli), adorable stores, historic

It was love at first sight. And when I I say first sight, I mean from the Austin Monthly Magazine. There was an article I read before I was recycling my magazine. I pulled out the travel section and booked my room.
The hotel was SUPER clean, completely renovated and ultra sexy. It was a mix of industrial meets farmhouse. Every detail was planned to the T. From the high quality bedding the the rugs. The bathrooms were something you'd want in your dream home. Heck, I wanted everything in my home.
If i could some up in one word, it would be perfect. Yup, it was perfect and dreamy and insta

Much as I would like to give this hotel 5 stars unfortunately I just can't. It's unfortunate because this hotel is in an historic building that has been remodeled in the most amazing way. It is gorgeous!
The shower is a walk-in and it is huge. The bathroom has a wooden barn door. The hotel has beautiful wood floors throughout. The lighting accents add all the charm needed but they didn't stop there, they added beautiful artwork. The room is well appointed and has a nice tv with dish network and free wifi.
