Sherwood Forest Summer Camp
Give your kids a Summer to remember by signing them up for Sherwood Forest Summer Camp. Would you love to live at the Ren Faire? Try our grown-up camp this Summer. It is a 3 day weekend where you get to sleep in a castle and learn valuable life skills such as Swordplay, Archery, Blacksmithing, & Leather working.
Services
All of our hands-on activities take place in our 23-acre medieval village. Campers will be transported back in time to a world of knights, ladies, and a simpler way of life. Campers will work with their hands to create useful tools and learn skills that were essential to daily living in the medieval era.
Sherwood Forest Summer Camp offers adults age 21+ the opportunity to learn skills and crafts of the renaissance era. Each camper will receive 3 hours of instruction in 5 different courses during their camp adventure. The event spans 3 days, and in addition to the course instruction, campers will enjoy 3 high-quality meals, some time for relaxation or cooling off in the pool each day, and of course revelry at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem at night!
Our courses vary year to year, and the final curriculum is usually available around the end of May. You can meet our Masters and learn about what they are teaching on our YouTube Channel! Campers will have predetermined Paths from which to choose. Campers who have selected the same pathway will be assigned to a "clan, " a group of 9 other campers within their age group with whom they will spend the entire week.
Our camp grows every year and requires a large staff to keep campers safe and ensure they are enjoying themselves. I've been called Teach since before I went to my first renaissance festival over a decade ago. It defines a lot of who I am. First, I am a teacher with 16 years of classroom experience teaching all levels of science.
Thanks for your interest in working at Sherwood Forest Summer Camp! We have a limited number of positions and not much turnover, but nevertheless, we encourage you to submit your application if you are interested in working with us. Counselors in Training (CITs) must be at least 17 years old. Being a CIT is a volunteer position, but if you return as a counselor you may start at a higher salary.

Our son has attended this camp for several years now. He absolutely loves it. He’s learn to create all different kinds of things. He looks forward to it every summer and this summer is no exception. His current plan is to take every class that lets him make something. This camp allows kids to explore, create, and be kids. I highly recommend it.

My kiddo went the first time when he was 7. Loved it and went back 3 more times. You won't find a better camp for the money. Awesome classes you won't find any where else. Life skills. No electronics and outside most of the day. This is truly a uniquely wonderful summer camp experience. He always came home with the best projects!

My son LOVES Sherwood Forest. He learns so much and comes back with a great attitude each year. The staff is engaged, interesting, responsible, and inclusive. He started going in 2017, missed last year, and is excited about attending for two weeks this year

On top of the fun of being whisked off to the time of knights and ladies brave and bold, inside a spralling 23 acre medieval village. Sherwood will feed the spirits and imaginations, of your child while teaching them unique skills! While I think every camp in Texas offers archery I don't know of any others that offers classes such as axe throwing, blacksmithing, chivalry, swordsmanship or pyrography just to name a few.
Sherwood Campers are immersed in such a welcoming and encouraging environment. This is also a very LGTQ+ friendly place for kids and teens, which is not common in the Lone Star

Our son has attended Sherwood camp for 4 years. He has a blast every year. I couldn’t recommend this camp more highly.
If your kid is a creative, imaginative, and maybe a little odd, Sherwood will nurture their soul.

My daughter has attended Sherwood for years and is returning this year as a camp counselor. She looks forward to it all year. She even wrote her college essay about it (and was accepted to all schools that she applied to!) If you're looking for a place for your kid(s) to leave their electronics behind and fire up their creative thinking, this is the place!

My daughter loves this camp. She went as much and we would let her, and this summer she will be a counselor. I thought not having any electronics would be an issue, but it definitely wasn’t. You won’t regret sending your kids here!

My oldest spent 3 summers at Sherwood Forest Summer Camp and would be there again this year if we hadn’t just moved cross-country. She got to do archery, swordplay, black smithing, and woodworking, and no one thought she was strange because she’d rather hang out in the shade and draw than go in the pool. She felt accepted for who she is (creative/ artsy/ dreamy/ maybe not traditionally feminine) and very happily spent weeks without her phone (to which she is otherwise surgically attached). It’s very affordable as sleepaway camps go and such an amazing experience for kids!
