Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) is a medical specialty treating disabling conditions resulting from illness or injury. Our team approach to identifying therapy needs (whether Physical, Occupational or Speech & Language) helps move a person to the highest level of function possible, within the limits of the disease. We use Electro-Diagnostics (EMG/NCV) to help select treatments up to and including surgical procedures (where appropriate), failing alternative, more conservative, care.

I didn't know what a physiatrist was a month ago, but after "failing" PT and having two PCPs and a neurologist throw up their hands, I am SO grateful to have found Dr. Walby. Finally, after over three years of complaining to my doctors about my increasing pain, I found someone to LISTEN to me. What I was calling back and leg pain, she told me was hip pain (oh, really? I thought my hips were up here...) and a perusal of my x-rays led her to tell me I am a candidate for hip replacement. I had no idea! Obviously, the news was bad, but it was a relief to finally know what the problem
