Mental Health Association Of East Tennessee
When we think about cancer, heart disease, or diabetes, we don't wait years to treat them. We start before Stage 4-we begin with prevention. MHAET Blogs are resources for people who are interested in mental health. We feature stories of hope and recovery, ways to end stigma and strategies for living well.

B4Stage 4 is an educational and awareness campaign that equips communities with the information and the tools needed to make a difference. The first step in knowing what to do is learning how to recognize and intervene when someone is struggling.
Services
The Mental Health Association of East Tennessee is a 501 (C)3 non-profit organization dedicated to educating the community about mental health issues, including the signs and symptoms of mental illness.

An ardent advocate on behalf of those who sometimes are not able to advocate for themselves, the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee works to improve the mental health system in our communities for those who need mental health care today or ten years from now.
Founded locally in 1948, the Association has been a United Way Partner Agency since 1960 and is affiliated with Mental Health America (formerly the National Mental Health Association). During our early years the agency was focused primarily on the mental health needs of Knoxville and Knox County residents.
At the Mental Health Association of East Tennessee, our vision is to build a behavioral health system responsive to the needs of its community. We provide essential early intervention, information, and client services, including invaluable peer support services to thousands of persons annually, additionally, we advocate on behalf of those who sometimes are not able to advocate for themselves.
When dealing with substance abuse, there is often a sense of denial that things are "out of control." When a person is addicted to a substance, that becomes the first thing they think of when they wake up in the morning, and it continues to be on their mind throughout the day. While some individuals do not use a substance daily, "binges", which refer to a large amount of a substance used in a short time, can be equally dangerous.
If you would like to donate your time by volunteering, please e-mail info@mhaet.com. We are currently looking for volunteers who can assist with data clean-up, events, and clean-up/organization.
