To understand how insulation works it helps to understand heat flow, which involves three basic mechanisms -- conduction, convection, and radiation. Conduction is the way heat moves through materials, such as when a spoon placed in a hot cup of coffee conducts heat through its handle to your hand. Convection is the way heat circulates through liquids and gases, and is why lighter, warmer air rises, and cooler, denser air sinks in your home.

Brick & Hammer are very thorough and professional. They were effective in securing my basement/crawl space from rodents - the traps they left behind went unfilled despite having bait on them. I had a great experience with this team. Rachel was excellent at communication and making sure everything went smooth from start to finish. The team that came did a great job. They were efficient and made sure to give a step by step during the whole process and updates on timing. I definitely recommend and I have noticed a difference in the temperature of my condo since the insulation was installed.

Hire this company! When you hear HVAC your mind doesn't go to a professional snake wrangler* does it? No? Nor did mine.
However, through the process of replacing our HVAC system in our new home we discovered a serious rodent issue that was causing heating issues. So we called Brick and Hammer to come help. Then while they were working they discovered snakes...

I have to say, I am extremely happy with the customer service they provide. Sean wasn't satisfied with drywall and texture matching; although someone not looking for it wouldn't notice a difference-- he kept redoing it until he was happy. Thank you for the great customer service and caring about what you produce! I would definitely recommend Brick and Hammer!

Sean and his team went above and beyond for us. We've been struggling with rodents in our attic for the past 5 years. Despite setting our own traps the furry creatures always seemed to come back. We finally accepted defeat and called Brick & Hammer for their help. My only regret is we didn't do it sooner! Sean and his team cleaned-out our old insulation, repaired duct work, and laid the new insulation. Brick & Hammer did a great job on our rat problem. They responded very quickly, did a thorough inspection and walked us through what was going on above and below our house. We hired them for abatement and new insulation and they were able to start the following week since our problem was pretty urgent. They communicated very well, had fair pricing, were very friendly throughout the whole process and did a great job. Would definitely hire them again!

Call Brick & Hammer if you want a fair, honest contractor. They were super realistic with my job. Could they have done more work for me and charged me more— of course. But instead he was straightforward and told me what I needed help with and what I could do myself. Sean is a trustworthy, friendly, and responsive contractor. Not someone who will nickel and dime you or try to up sell you on things you don’t need. If you want good quality work for fair prices, definitely call them. I will use Brick & Hammer again in the future when I have more work to be done.

I found proof of rats under my house and freaked out! Thankfully I found Brick & Hammer to help me quickly. They found all the spots where rats could get in and sealed them up. 2 months later, still no rats. THANK GOODNESS. Seriously call them if you need help! Sean and the entire crew were fantastic! Their attention to detail and commitment to doing a great job are unparalleled! We had a long term rat infestation in our attic. They found and sealed the entrance hole, cleaned and sanitized the entire space, replaced all of the air ducts and insulation, allowed us to begin heating our home, and got rid of our ongoing willies :)
