Pony
Seattle's most popular gay dive bar is a tribute to the great West Village and Castro bars of the 1970s. One of the very few stand-alone bars on Capitol Hill, Pony occupies a 1930s-vintage gas station building that has been transformed into a beloved hangout. We have a large west-facing patio that's open all year around thanks to a retractable roof and a gas fire pit.

Check out the calendar for our weekly, monthly, and one-off parties. Depending on the night, you'll find our featured DJs spinning favorites from the discerning homo's favorite genres: punk rock, disco, new wave, and indie rock. The desire to find an older building with real grit and character guided the search for a new location, and ultimately the building at 1221 E Madison St was chosen.

I've been to Pony a couple times in the past, but it was pre-Covid. Came here recently as the last stop on a bar crawl to celebrate my cousin's 21st.

Staff here is always really nice. I'll say the bartender working the night I went was REALLY nice, because I couldn't find my mask.... Only for him to inform me that it was hanging off my ear... LOL. Yikes. He was really kind about it, thankfully.

Music selection here is amazing and the crowd is kind and keeps to themselves. We had a great time hanging out, dancing, and having a few drinks before turning in the for the night

Incredible. Iconic. Classic. My style. Everything I could have hoped for in a place like this. My bartender was fabulous and conversed with me through the night. An absolute gem in Seattle and will definitely be revisiting. highly recommend !!!!

Don't come here for the drinks. It's not their strength. I had the wine, it tasted like very citric feet.

It’s a fun dingy fun space full of fabulous art and props. Brings back memories of old San Francisco before the techies took over

Hey, maybe train your bartenders on the difference between loud and obnoxious vs drunk. Went in with our friends and promptly got kicked out for being "too drunk". One of us had zero drinks that evening, on had one drink and dinner that evening, the other 4 of us had 2 drinks in the last two hours. We just get stupid when we're together. We're we obnoxious, sure. Drunk, not even close! There were penises hanging from them ceiling. The boys were having fun with it. Pay better attention! You don't want people being loud and silly, don't hang penises from your ceiling

This place pins the "dive bar" description of a tail on the pony *ahem donkey. What you see is what you get folks - don't expect a fancy bar or 5-star ambiance - the people who do leave dismayed and unfulfilled. If a dive bar is what you seek, then a dive bar you shall receive when you enter here.

Service is good and they have lots of funny merchandise you can take home - they make great bachelor/bachelorette party gifts - what more could you ask for? Parking. Well it's Cap Hill. There isn't any! Get used to it. But find your way to Pony for a fun time!

I loved Pony. It is a very unique place and carries beer that's about as alcohol loaded as a cocktail. The patio is a great place to spend some time, especially around the firepit. I hope this place stays open for a really really long time. Would definitely visit again. Hopefully I'll find another $100 bill on the floor outside the bar like I did last time!

Do not go here if you have a service animal. The bartender will ask a bunch of illegal questions and then throw you out. If you had already ordered and paid for a drink he will take it away from you.

Legally you can only ask for license or proof they are a registered service animal. You can not ask what the persons disability is or anything else.

I just wanted to write to you about our experience at Pony on 3/14. Two of us visiting from out of state and heard Pony was an interesting bar - which we both liked the atmosphere. However, the bartenders that night were not the nicest group of guys and seemed to have cared less if we were there while leaving us waiting during their personal conversation. I’m not writing about your atmosphere or the drinks - it was the lack of caring by the bartenders that night. I wouldn't waste my time visiting again.

I love the bar & the crowd but there needs to be a better system to deal with the Sunday Funday crowd. You get a drink you may as well just go right back in line.

To describe Pony! It's all love. I always point out the floor is great for dancing in the highest platforms. There is always great entertainment, themes for the night. My drinks are always served with a smile. BloodLust is the Gothiest in town, and you won't want to leave the dance floor. Thank Goth for BloodLust! Thank you Pony for accepting Seattles Weirdos(me)! Everyone that works so hard to keep this club fun, thank you.
