Called this company a day prior to service for HVAC unit. Waited for service all morning, called him, but he suggested to call other contractor because he was too busy.....when I expressed my frustration for not receiving a warning for missed appointment he called me an a....hole. Do not do business with this company, it is waste of time!

Our gas furnace (Carrier Weathermaker 8000) stopped heating. The main blower still worked fine but the burners wouldn't turn on. I called Bay Air HVAC Services and they sent out a crew to work on it. The Field Specialist (Richard Aredo) did a couple checks then stated that the furnace needed a new "inducer motor assembly" and that due to the age of the furnace, these parts were no longer available. He said I had to buy a new furnace and he would give me a "special deal" of only $5,500 to do the job. I said that surely this was a very common furnace and that replacement

NEVER HIRE THIS COMPANY! They cut corners and put customers' health at risk.
Five years ago Richard installed a new furnace in my 94 year-old father-in-law's home. He died last year and we've been fixing up the place. I tried to locate the air filter for the furnace and couldn't so I called Bay Air and asked where the filter was located. They told me to look inside the unit on top of the blower motor. Looking in there would require dismantling several parts so I called back and they sent out a technician. He couldn't locate it either and tried to convince me someone had

Rheem water heater purchased from this outfit in March of 2019 is malfunctioning just 14 months later. I called them believing that the unit would still be under warranty and I was informed that the warranty on this $2,000.00 water heater was good for 12 months only. Furthermore, it would cost $400.00 to repair it. Really?!? Two thousand dollars for a water heater that fails right after the warranty expires!
I spoke with Richard today and he was very congenial. To be clear, Bay Area HVAC is not at fault for the problems we are experiencing with the water heater.

Richard, the owner and manager of this company came over today to fix our AC ( a starter needed to be replaced). He said it would cost $860, of which $450 is labor cost. My husband asked him why labor would cost so much, to which Richard explained that this is because repairs would take 3 hours of work for 2 guys ( he came with a younger person helping him). The whole thing took 40 min to fix ( only one guy was working, the other was by their truck), and our AC is now working.
My husband who was working from home and had some emergencies at work ( was on urgent conference calls), wrote Richard

Don't trust these guys with your Nest system. Seems to be just a small operation with the owner as their main tech. Starting it all off by trying to sell us a new furnace based only on the age of our current furnace without even first seeing if it was in good working shape. Claims to be familiar and well experienced with the system. Clearly didn't know what he was talking about when he came to troubleshoot ours, and it resulted in making things worse and we're now stuck without power. Difficult and stubborn and wouldn't listen to our feedback. Just convinced us that we

My 50 yr old heater stopped working. I called an HVAC company to see what is going wrong. A guy came and said, "your furnace is too old and huge." He mentioned that they don't work on these old units. He told to call somebody else. Finally, I called Bay Air HVAC services from San Carlos. They made an appointment for next day 2-4pm. 2 guys showed up on time. They looked professional and courteous. They looked at the unit and recommended me to replace it. Also, they gave me the estimate, in which it was within my budget. They gave me the schedule for 2 days after for a full day job

These folks seem to charge over 1000% markup.
They came and had a look at my heater, and told me that I needed to replace my inducer motor. Without even needing to consult a catalog, they quoted $1080, and gave me a $100 discount. When I asked why it was so expensive, they told me that it was about $500 for the part and $500 for labor because it was very labor intensive. They told me they would have to come back the next day because it is a very old model and they didn't have the part, but then they realized that they did indeed have the part in the truck and could do it right away.

When we bought our old home, the very first thing that needed to be replaced was our old furnace from 1957! We were really concerned about its rusty appearance and poor efficiency. Our home inspector even mentioned that it was likely running at about 50% efficiency at the time of his inspection. Aside from that, we were really concerned about the asbestos tape that wrapped around the air duct from the furnace to the ceiling. One of the biggest waste of energy/monies is keeping an old, poorly-efficient furnace running to keep the house warm. Perhaps, if my wife and I weren't expecting a baby
