This Place my family I and come that least 3 timrs a year. I like to stay preferably on the second floor to see both BNSF on the the CP that is accross the river. The day I way hear I counted 43 trains including both sides use the scanner ap NSF and CPRR Mississippi River Subdivisons - Alma from Scanner pro from your phone and you can look up the Sub division and hear the scanners go off so you know about how far they are away.

Great location with lots of potential, but needs some investment. Rooms are damp, musty-smelling & dated. No exhaust fan in the bathroom meant peeling paint & a very uncomfortable experience getting ready in a room with 95% humidity. Be advised no toiletries are provided except for a vat of dollar store shampoo. Mattresses are extremely soft - "Jack's Deep Valley Bed." OK for a quick stay to enjoy the River, just manage your expectations.

"Three Women”
This was our annual “Fall Vacation for three days and 2 nights. It was wonderful!
The newly renovated rooms and bathrooms were great and we had a magnificent view from our 2nd floor balcony that overlooked the Mississippi River. We saw barges, boats, and even the Queen of the Mississippi Paddle boat that takes an 8 day cruise from St Louis, MO to St Paul MN. The location was perfect for us to drive 30 minutes south to Lacrosse and take an hour and half day time cruise on a Mississippi paddle boat.
The owners, Virgil and Theresa are very friendly and helpful. We had a dead battery

My wife and I went to the Winona area for the weekend, did a little 'google map' on the area and discovered Inn on the River just a short 20 minute drive away through scenic Wisconsin's rolling hills.
None of that 300 room hotel just off the freeway nonsense here. Just 12 recently remodeled rooms with a balcony view of the Mississippi just across the street. Rooms have a mini-fridge, microwave, Wi-Fi with great speeds and a strong signal.
Owners are the greatest. Check-in was a breeze.
We had left a fan in the room for white noise at night (which we never used). Received

Renovations to the Inn are outstanding. The owners friendly & accommodating. We enjoyed our stay celebrating our golden anniversary. Our only suggestion is to put dividers on the balconies for privacy. Currently, the 2 adjacent rooms have balcony access to both rooms, able to look in the patio window or enter an unlocked room.

The owners Virgil and Theresa treat you like family. The rooms are all newly remodeled and are very spacious and comfortable. New beds and completely new bathrooms and showers that are amazing. So relaxing sitting on the balcony overlooking the Mississippi River. The only place we will stay when in Trempealeau.

Decent prices, very friendly staff/owners. Even the rooms that have not been renovated yet are nice, cozy, and well equipped. They let me store my filthy bicycle in their garage. Great view of the Mississippi River. There are train tracks between the river and the hotel which get traffic but I hardly noticed and it was rather soothing. I'll stop here again.

We loved our stay in the Inn on the River. Beautifully renovated with impeccable taste. Very thought through designs of the rooms and bathrooms. Comfortable beds! I haven’t experienced such a nice shower for a long time. The owners were so hospitable and nice. 5 stars! If we ever back in this area, this is the place we will stay again, no doubt 😊

Now since Theresa & Virgil have taken over, and are remodeling the Inn, we may be back more than once a year. We were overjoyed to hear the news of this transition in May, when we last visited. We love the location, & have enjoyed meeting up with friends here for a few days of biking, birding, and paddling. Can't wait to return. Thank you Theresa & Virgil!

I am so happy we gave the Inn another try after some disappointing stays in the past. The new owner Theresa was just great. She made sure that we had everything we needed and was such a pleasure to deal with.
Theresa and Virgil have started to upgrade / update all the rooms and the new beds.. well lets just say we slept until 11am.
Theresa thank you for a great weekend and we will be back.
