River Forest Foot Clinic
After graduating from the University of Michigan with distinction, Dr. Lambert attended the William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degrees in 1989. She did a post-graduate year with Dr. Lewis Carrozza on the southwest side of Chicago.

In private practice since 1990, she enjoys helping people, especially when they come to the office expecting pain and are happily surprised when the treatment is painless! Dr. Lambert enjoys her work with seniors and finds helping diabetic patients especially gratifying. In addition to her private practice, Dr. Lambert works in retirement homes, senior apartment buildings, assisted living and adult day care facilities.

The most common cause of heel pain that occurs after rest is plantar fasciitis. This often results when your arch flattens with standing. A heel spur can form where the plantar fascia attaches to the bone. Heel spurs can be diagnosed with an in-office X-ray. Non-surgical treatments, such as custom orthotic devices to support your arch, can alleviate your pain.
An ingrown toenail occurs when the side of the nail grows down into the skin, most commonly on the big toe. A painful break in the skin can quickly become infected with bacteria from the nail or an unsterile nail clipper. An ingrown toenail appears as redness and swelling on the side of the nail. When infected, pus is present and the toe may throb.
If you do, you should know how important foot care is. Over time, diabetics risk developing complications. Chronic high blood sugar or hyperglycemia can cause damage to the nerves of your feet causing numbness, burning and itching; this is diabetic neuropathy. Long term diabetes can cause poor circulation in the feet or peripheral vascular disease.
Calluses: A callus may spread across the ball of your foot. This type of callus is usually due to a problem with a metatarsal (the long bone at the base of a toe, near the ball of the foot). A pinch callus may grow along the outer edge of the heel or the big toe. Some calluses press up into the foot instead of spreading on the outside.
