Services
Great Lakes Olive Oil Co. was founded in 2010, by the Lee family. Self-proclaimed Foodies, the Lee family, has a passion for good food; it was this passion that lead them to start Great Lakes Olive Oil Co. While vacationing in 2010, the Lee's were introduced to the unique world of high quality oils and vinegars and fell in love!
It's our mission to provide our customers with the freshest and healthiest oils from around the world. To achieve this, we follow a rotation of harvest seasons, that brings us a collection of Northern Hemisphere (California, Italy, Spain, and Portugal, for example) oils then rotates to the Southern Hemisphere (Australia, Chile, Peru, and South Africa, for example).
Our vinegars are made following the Modena (birthplace of balsamic vinegar) style and regulations. Trebbiano grapes, grown in the Northern Region of Italy, form the base of the balsamic vinegar. The grape juice, or "must", is pressed out of the grapes and boiled down. The "must" is then transferred to a variety of different wood barrels to start the aging process.
Our rewards program is our way of thanking our loyal customers with a variety of different discounts and freebies. How it works: As a member of the Loyalty Program you receive stars for each bottle purchased in-store and online. The more bottles you purchase the more discounts and freebies you get!
Our oils are imported from around the world following the harvest season. Production of the Southern Hemisphere oils begins in the early summer, while in the winter the harvest for the Northern Hemisphere oils begins. This rotation of harvest seasons ensures we are providing the freshest oils available.

"Hi! We found two olive oils we liked, what other olive oil do you recommend?"
"I don't understand what you're asking, are you lost?"
"No, I just wondered what you thought is good here."
"My taste buds might be different than yours."
"Okay, I guess we'll leave."
That was our experience. Most ridiculous interaction with retail staff we've had yet. If you can buy their oils online, do that, there's nothing pleasant about the staff in our experience.

Very disappointed in the service. I asked for the young lady what was the best olive oil she looked up and pointed. Went over asked her about another oil and she was very rude. Maybe this was a bad day for her but we walked out.

Small selection of oils and vinegars and the back of the bottle says its from California. Which is fine except they are charging the same price as oil stores that either make their own or at least get it local. I can buy non-local infused oils way cheaper online or at other stores.

The products here are amazing, and the store has such a pleasant atmosphere. I love that it is a family-owned business. It's wonderful to support small local businesses!

Don't know why, but I got a bottle of lemon infused olive oil that had a tag on it saying balsamic??? LOOKS like and tastes like Olive oil and have given a bottle as a gift. The recipient asked if it was a balsamic vinegar or an oil... Sales staff even called me when they supposedly got more in stock and filled my bottle "in the back room".. which gave me a little cause to say...hmmmm. whats up with that???
So, be careful and read/understand label before you leavd store...

I can appreciate this oil and vinegar shop in Frankenmuth because I make my own dressings using olive oil and different vinegar! The quality of your ingredients are very important and you can taste the difference when you have high quality oils vs. stuff you buy at Target. I love this shop to try different oils and vinegar from around the world!

Ok, I have not visited this establishment yet but it is now on my radar, I am OBSESSED with flavor infused Olive Oil, I actually just spent well over $100 at a local one establishment, I live in Nevada. What led me to this was a friend commented on my purchase and lives in the Tri Cities and was eluding that she wanted me to ship her some spicy oil.

I did a quick google and landed on Great Lakes Olive Oil. The only issue I had was I could not essentially obtain the hours from the website I landed on, which may not have been theirs and their answering machine had no info as far as hours go.

I don't understand why all olive oil is not butter flavored olive oil. Oddly enough the dill olive oil is amazing and a fried egg. Stop and check this place out when you're in Frankenmuth.

Ironically I am not very into flavoured olive oil but I love this store. In Korea it is common to drink fruit vinegars so I was excited when I saw all that they had to offer! First I tasted everything down the right side of the store and I was going to buy a grapefruit vinegar. But the girl behind the counter urged me to try more and I was more than happy to oblige. In the end I fell in love with the coconut vinegar and had to get that one too. You can also get a stamp card and I feel that I'll be getting quite a few stamps in the near future..

Last time here (2 years ago) there was way more selection than now. Visually it appears there are areas for additional oil or vinegar decanters (only one type of infused oil?) Vom Fass (locally for me) has a much wider selection and I would be hard pressed to make this a stop in the future.

I did leave with a bottle of light Spanish olive oil as a memento of the visit but too bad there isn't more selection.

Fine olive oil and vinegar ain't cheap but the good thing is you can taste before you buy so you can see what you have been missing out on all your life. Switching to olive oil in general is not just healthier but tastier. Then when you make it a specialty olive oil and or vinegar, the results are mind blowing.
My palate is not sensitive enough to get much out of the $20 bottles of olive oil at the grocery store but the flavors here are distinctive with out being over powering or tasting artificial. They are not cheap but if you have the money, it is defiantly worth it. It is not like

MMMMMM Love, love, love. I've had about 5 bottles from here so far. There's a delicious olive oil with black truffles...Pricey ($70 something) for a huge bottle, but it's delicious. Cooking with these are amazing. The first one I had was a rosemary and garlic that made chicken fabulous. They even have a whole line of vinegars too...Don't forget to get a punch card. Also, if you take your bottle back and refill, it's $1 off.

My family and I are absolutely ADDICTED to this olive oil and vinegar tasting shop in Frankenmuth! We've visited three times and always come across a new flavor that we like--the Blood Orange olive oil is our favorite, it's sweet and tastes good on anything from salads to bread and you can't go wrong with any of the fruity vinagerettes, like tangerine or pomegranate. All the products are foreign (from Australia to Italy) and change with the season so you never know what you're going to find there. The staff is very knowledgeable about the best pairings and there are tiny plastic
