Luzerne County Transportation Authority
The Luzerne County Transportation Authority ("The Authority"), through the operation of fixed route and shared ride divisions, seeks to provide high quality affordable public transportation services that are safe, reliable, useful, accessible and efficient.

To this end, members of the Board of Directors and all employees shall conduct themselves in a professional manner; work to ensure the safety and security of passengers; seek new opportunities to improve and/or expand services; and coordinate public transit services with other agencies, organizations, and transit providers.
Services
Professional, safe, reliable, and courteous shared ride and fixed route service in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Clean, comfortable, and well-maintained public transportation vehicles that meet PennDOT and FTA safety inspection requirements. A licensed and fully trained driver who is professional, neatly dressed, and well mannered.
Travel Training aims to teach individuals how to use Luzerne County Buses. You will learn how to plan your trip, read the schedule, arrive at the correct bus stop, board the bus, pay your fare, and find your destination. Also, if needed, other modes of transportation can be discussed. Travel training is available for both individuals and groups.
Arrival times are based on estimations of the current bus location. Buses that go off route (e.g. for a detour) will still be displayed on the map, but arrival times may not be adjusted until the bus returns to the regular route. Seniors aged 65 and older can ride LCTA buses all day, every day, for free, during regularly scheduled service hours. LCTA requires that all seniors interested in riding for free acquire the State Transit ID Card. To obtain a State Transit ID Card, a brief application must be filled out appropriately, with the required proof of age, and submitted to LCTA; a card will be issued immediately.
In the event that roads become impassable or when conditions warrant, LCTA will implement the Severe Weather Routes below. These routes are designed to provide minimal service instead of closing completely in an effort to better serve our customers. Outbound: Wyoming Avenue to Union Street to Route 309 to Lake Street to East Center Hill Road.
