The purpose of Redwoods Rural Health Center is to provide responsive, preventive, high quality primary health care services, through a variety of healing disciplines, to all people without regard to social or economic status. We emphasize the client's right and responsibility to participate in his or her own health care decisions.
It is our hope that the clinic be a place where the needs of the whole person are met--body, mind, and spirit. This health center receives HHS funding and has Federal PHS deemed status with respect to certain health or health-related claims, including medical malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals.

Services
In the early 1970's a handful of friends & neighbors living in the hills of Southern Humboldt started talking to each other about the need for health care that would work for them. In this founding group were midwives & young parents seeking support for the growing home birth movement.
There were people interested in exploring alternative therapies & people who had received bad or disrespectful treatment at the hands of the doctors they had visited in the cities.Most of these founders were poor; many were on welfare & had experienced discrimination based on their poverty, their apparent counter cultural appearance, or their ethnic or racial status.

Meetings generally on the first Wednesday of the month from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm - bring your lunch. Meeting locations vary but include the Civic Club in Garberville. Humboldt Area Foundation is the community foundation of and for the citizens of the North Coast. Vera's dream has been joined by literally thousands of individuals committed to building a better community.
Walk-in and same day appointments available and new patients are welcome! Did you know that an RRHC provider is available around the clock for urgent questions, minor issues, or medical advice? We do not fill controlled substances or make appointments after hours or on the weekends. You may be advised to call when the clinic is open to schedule the next available appointment, or be directed to go to the ER.
Southern Humboldt once again has its own community pharmacy! Garberville Pharmacy is located at 286 Sprowel Creek Road and open Monday-Friday 9:30am-6:00pm. Offering same-day prescription fills and over-the-counter medication purchases. The licensed Pharmacy team is available to answer questions and give you guidance.

Incompetent clinic. I had seen Dr. Olah for emergency intense tooth pain and she failed to write me a prescription for antibiotics and pain medication after the appointment. Over 24 hours later, she calls me back and says she thought I said I was already on antibiotics and then backtracked to say she prescribed it to someone else and when I went to the pharmacy there was no pain medication. Do not recommended.

No one ever plans for colds to hit on vacation, but here we are! I called in desperation, knowing they probably had no open appointments for today, but reception sent me straight to their triage nurse who had us drive down and do a covid/flu swap for my son just in case. She took his vitals and listened to his chest to make sure it was clear, and it was just all so wonderfully kind of them to help us out. And they weren’t kidding! Super busy down there today. Reception lady was also very nice and helpful and awesome, and I could keep going until this review gets REALLY embarrassing, but I think

Don’t go if you might ever get cancer. I was diagnosed over a week ago with a rare and extremely deadly cancer angiosarcoma. I have been begging for a referral to a sarcoma specialist to get the immediate help I need but no one will take the reins and work on it . I quote Mary in referrals that, “ I helped you enough last November. What? Totally unrelated and that shouldn’t even be an issue. Do not go if you need anything that’s serious.

I recently had an appointment with Dr. White in the dental clinic. The staff was professional, friendly, and empathetic and I was impressed with Dr. White's knowledge and gentleness. I would highly recommend RRHC's services. They offer medical, dental, mental health, acupuncture, nutritional counseling, and new perinatal services.

Unfortunately not even the shadow of what we started it out as in the 80s. Lamentably this govt destroys all good peoples efforts to have good service, so as much as i LOVE YOU GUYS, i have to give yo a one rating because its unacceptable to not be able to get dental care at my own local clinic. so ... something about its great, not the accessability though, can wait from sept to jan to get my teeth fixed.

The Dental place is great, had real good experiences there: everyone is real friendly, real professional, very happy with their work. The medical clinic is a mixed bag. My own experience has been hit and miss. The plus side is, they will take you and do their best, regardless of your insurance status and they operate on a sliding scale if you don't have insurance and they will work with you as much as they can on financial aide.

Terrible service, unprofessional office staff, and very poor health care. I stayed with them for several years that were wasted as far as finding a cure to my chronic back/leg/neck pain. When I changed providers, my new doctor ordered tests that showed possibly fatal artery blockages that could have been treated years earlier. Some of the staff were wonderful, but some were so awful that it ruins the rest of them.
