Inspect gaps, cracks, and crevices such as gaps along shelves, counter-tops, walls, and gaps in molding. Inspect areas where ants may find food or water sources such as your kitchen and bathroom. Routinely clean appliances such as the microwave, under the stove, and behind the refrigerator. Store food in tightly sealed containers, keep food storage off the floor and neatly organized.
When purchasing, selling, or refinancing a home, lenders may require a Wood Destroying Insect Inspection Report (Form NPMA-33). This pest inspection is looking for wood-destroying insects such as termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and wood boring beetles. Termites can be difficult to detect, as they tunnel inside wood leaving the exterior of the wood possibly undamaged.
