Lazizah Bakery
Located in sleepy and storied Yantic village, Lazizah Bakery is the perfect hidden cafe and sweet spot to take a break from the ordinary grind. Healthy, delicious and nutritious; enjoy the legendary soups or fresh baked breads made every day from scratch. Our authentic Lebanese and Mediterranean dishes always start with the finest ingredients and fresh vegetables from local, organic farms.

Treat yourself to a heavenly Baklava or other delightful confectionary that we craft with love and you may find yourself leaving with a slightly larger smile and lighter step than when you arrived. We stock specialty and import spices, olives, cheese and yogurts, condiments, sauces, jams and more in our marketplace corner.
Services
Lazizah Bakery is born from a background of rich mediterranean culture- a culture which produces ample, sumptuous and natural food. Our menu offers a selection of tastes from various regions along the Mediterranean. For over 6 years we have been serving the local Norwich, Bozrah and Backus Hospital, and shoreline communities.
Knosh on a shawarma or falafel wrap, enjoy a hearty soup, or extinguish your hunger on a cool refreshing salad. Iffat and Bassem have created a menu of gustatory delights using the finest local, organic and seasonal produce with rich spices and recipes from the middle east.

Due to substantial pandemic price changes and supply chain issues, especially for our quality meats and fresh vegetables, we find ourselves obligated to increase a few of our items cost for the first time in over a dozen years. We appreciate your support and understanding as we continue to serve our community in these challenging times.
Baklava is a tasty, rich, sweet pastry made of layers of filo dough filled with chopped nuts and caramelized together with honey. Originating in Turkey and the Ottoman Empire, it easily spread around the Mediterranean and all the way to England. It is best made in large trays as labor is demanding to carefully layer the delicate filo to achieve the amazing flakiness.
We feel lucky to know so many wonderful and caring people, each who have amazing skills, families, and businesses. Please support our local community and patronize local offerings and talent before buying on the internet or at Walmart. The Yantic Fire Department always deserves immeasurable gratitude for the service, duty, and courage they volunteer without question at all hours, all year long, for so many families and towns.

As soon as you pull up you know it's gonna be good. I was looking for good soup in the area (sore teeth after getting braces tightened) and found this spot on Google. Ordered one of their soups of the day, a sweet potatoe vegetable curry soup. Legit all my favorite things. Sooooo perfect on this chilly fall day. Flavors and texture is spot on. The little roll it comes with is delicious. Couldn't have asked for anything better and even tho I don't live in the area anymore I WILL be back!

The man was a talker in a good way. Very friendly, attentive, interactive and accommodating to our family. Our first trip to this out of the way, off the beaten path Establishment. I had a Gyro Chicken. It was alright, the everything but the kitchen sink cookies were worth every penny.

This is THE BEST soup I've ever had in my entire life! I'm not sugar-coding at all (I absolutely don't hold back when reviewing). Although the man serving may not flatter everyone who enters his shop (1-star taken off), the food is great! His wife is the chef. She's super nice and extremely talented! There are no indoor seating but PLENTY outside. I would've enjoyed sitting out there longer if it weren't 90+ degrees today. Thank you for my soup! The photo does it nooo justice! I will be back for some very soon!! 🍲

So far out of the way but worth it. Home made is best made and everything in the place is delicious and fresh. Clean, very tiny and possibly the place to find the best baklava on the planet!

First off, the gentleman who owns and runs this quaint little shop in a historic building is one of the kindest and wholesome people I have met. He makes you feel like a long time customer even if you're a first time visitor. The food was just as good as their service, but I was most pleasantly surprised by how welcoming and kind the staff were.

This Norwich gem is a cultural relic.
Glimpse a taste of the Mediterranean and Levant. I have never found as comfortable and flavorful foods, and I've traveled a bit. Check out the quaint village if you have time. I'd suggest eating sitting on the terrace or nearby stone bridge over the Yantic River. Just help keep our river clean and don't litter, please.

Phenomenal food, awesome baked goods and great service. The baklava was AMAZING as was the garlic chicken sandwich. Our little one chose a chocolate cupcake and it was better than almost any bakery cupcake I've ever had. You simply can't go wrong with anything you choose here. There is also a small market inside with cold drinks, handmade soaps and a small cooler of items to grab and go.

Delicious and authentic Middle Eastern foods. There is a patio during the summertime along the river. I was here during the winter time so did not get nearly as much of the charm as this little Germanic neighborhood lost in time offers. It's worth it to come here just to check out the buildings surrounding it and the beautiful bridge adjacent to the building. I must say it was the best falafel I've had in a long time. The owner was of course charming beyond belief.

I think Lazizah means "I want to eat everything here twice" in Lebanese. I could be wrong, but the sentiment remains. The falafel, the shwarma, the bacla---NO, the CHOC-lava, and yes the baclava, and all the pastries are awesome. Great pita bread, great service, the NICEST MAN BEHIND A COUNTER IN NORWICH, it has it all. Go there, now, right now.

The falafel was great, with just a little bit of spiciness to it. The pita, veggies, and sauce were on point.

Enjoyed a few varieties of baklava as well.

Always appreciate a place with a fridge full of Hosmer.

I adore this bakery. First discovered them at the Bozrah Farmers Market and when I discovered they were 2 minutes from my house, I finally knew we picked the right house to buy. Their baklava.......guys....their baklava. It's so good. I highly suggest their hummus as well. They gave a small menu that looks perfect for a quick, light lunch too! I haven't tried it but when I do I'll be back.

Owner is the friendliest, most welcoming man I've come across in ct.
The baklava is delicious. Not too sweet, super flaky.
The wraps were good too...simple, fresh, and not too heavy.
We sat outside on a picnic table rock. It's really nice with the river right there.

This place is a gem. Went there yesterday and today. Garlic chicken wrap and beef gyro, both are good. Also, tasted the salad and ended up getting a portion of it too. Bottom line, everything is awesome.

Stopped by for the first time today. I have lived in the area for 7 years and mad at myself I didn't find this place sooner. Baked goods were excellent and the older gentleman is a character!!

It was raining today but next time I would sit outside as they have a cute patio.

Good chicken gyro and tortellini soup, though I wish they had a cup and not just a pint of it. The experience was a bit strange so that may deter me from coming back. The older man working there, possibly the owner, has a very strong personality that may be off putting to some. I am all for chit chatting but I don't expect a carry out order to turn into a 15-20 minute lecture on life. I got there 10-15 minutes after calling and my order had not even been started, despite no other customers being there. He also stopped in the middle of putting my order together to ring up a friend of his who

The owner is the nicest man ever!

I am staying at a hotel in Norwich on business and was tired and figured I would order in.I found this place on yelp, called, the owner picked up and I asked for a menu. In his very thick accent he basically asked me what I wanted and he will make me whatever he can with what he has so I told him things I liked and didn't like and i was going to be surprised. I found out they closed 45 mins before I called and he said it didnt matter that I am guest in his city and he wants me to enjoy my stay; I begged him to reconsider but he insisted. 20 mins later he
