The Fabric Garden
The Fabric Garden is one of Maine's oldest quilt shops, and has been providing the Madison, Maine area with high quality fabrics and sewing supplies since 1978. Established by Kala Murphy, her late Aunt Marie, and late sister Beth, the business was born of a passion for sewing and creating.

Over the years, we have grown the shop from only a few hundred bolts of fabric to thousands of bolts of the industry's finest quilt-shop quality fabrics and batiks.We also expanded the store's products and services to include sewing machine sales, service, and training in 1984.

Excellent service, very knowledgeable and friendly! An unexpected treasure just a tiny bit out of the way. I scored a great used machine at an extraordinary price. Shop local!

Excellent, quality selection of fabrics. knowledgeable staff. the new arrangement in the shop has opened the aisles up and made shopping more fluid. nice.

This place is amazing! Everything you need to create fabric masterpieces. The staff was friendly, helpful, and the place was busy! Well worth the two hour drive. Cannot wait to go back.

Wonderful store. Lots of fabrics. Great assortment of batiks. And Kala was fabulous. She helped with fabric choices, yardage requirements and everything. My sister & I left with all the makings for a beautiful quilt.

Omg, my first but not last trip here! We were able to take advantage of some great bargains in her sale cottage, but then we went into the big store...oh my! Beautiful fabrics and the ladies were really helpful finding blender fabrics and showing us great patterns! I should have brought extra suitcase..I’m shipping..lol

I love this shop! I find everyone that works here very helpful and knowledgeable. They have an amazing selection of fabric and other quilting supplies. I enjoy their weekly emails, which help me to keep in touch with what’s happening in the shop.

Fabric Garden is a treasure. The selection of fabrics, patterns, machines and notions is outstanding. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. There is loads of inspiration as you walk throughout the store. They have wonderful events throughout the year, a great website, engage regularly with their customers on social media and provide a great shopping experience.

Looks small on the outside but this business has lots of variety! The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. Prices are very good. I tend to price compare and found the prices at Fabric Garden are in line with most of the online giants. Kudos to this small business owner!

I am from out of town and love to stop in at quilt shops along the way. This is a great place with nice fabric and kit choices. The people working here are super friendly.

I live in Norfolk, Virginia and spend a lot of time in Smithfield, Maine every year. I have joined the Maine quilters' guild and appreciate the discount I receive from the Fabric Garden. I didn't know about the discount the first time I visited and, after I had completed my transaction, when they found out that I have that membership they told me to pick a free spool of thread. How sweet! I always look forward to visiting the Fabric Garden...the staff is very friendly and helpful, there is a fabulous selection of fabric and lots of great notions! I am right now ordering some fabric online to complete
