Extreme Military Challenge
Among the thousands of hands I shook {.} few stood out as much as the group of young men and women I met from Extreme Military Challenge. Their passion and energy {.} can serve as an inspiration for all. Military Summer Camp (XMC) is the premier program of its type, offering military camps for teens that are realistic and safe.

While most of our participants have a serious interest in a possible military career we have many who attend for a unique experience that will help improve themselves whether it be their motivation, leadership skills, confidence, discipline or just their overall fitness. XMC is NOT a correctional camp and we do NOT accept participants with behavioral issues (see our FAQ).
Services
Military Summer Camp (XMC), operated by Liberty Communications, LLC, is the premier program of its type on the finest facility available. Our Cadre consist of qualified Officers and NCOs (including real multi-service Drill Instructors) as well as youth development professionals. XMC's senior staff have 30+ years experience running Military Summer Camps in locations throughout the United States.
What is the inspection and maintenance schedule. Ask for information regarding the overall physical condition of the buildings and grounds. Are males and females housed in separate buildings, with sufficient distance from one another? Does the staff have separate latrine facilities away from the Cadets?
Colonel Joseph M. Land, Sr., XMC, President of Liberty Communications, LLC, which owns and operates Extreme Military Challenge!, became a Cadet in 1977. He continued as a Cadet until he joined the military in 1980. Colonel Land has developed, executed and commanded military-based career exploration programs for over 30 years, serving well over 10,000 young men and women worldwide.
Waivers may be authorized for Cadets who are currently high school seniors with only one year with XMC who have attended at least 4 weeks to include the Cadet Field Leader Course. Norwich University is the Military College of Vermont. A private university in Northfield, Vermont, it is the oldest private military college in the United States, founded in 1819.
This affiliation provides XMC personnel with both liability and accident insurance, while also offering access to a vast array of exceptional facilities. Additionally, participation in XMC programs can be used towards advancement requirements for both Boy Scouts and Exploring programs. Liberty Communications, LLC and TACSIM Media Group have partnered to offer the highly-aclaimed Cadet Ranger School to young men and women age 16-18.

Well this military camp was awesome. I attended this camp summer of 2021 and going back for more! I am a female and it was perfectly fine. It was challenging but so rewarding! Col. Land and his cadre do an awesome providing a realistic but safe experience. During my time a actually broke my fingure and had to get stitches and lets just say the medical team at XMC did an awesome job taking care of me and keeping my parents up to date. It was a good experience. Dont send your kid here if they dont have tough skin its not built for the week. five stars all the way! thereis reason its on top 10 summer

If there was a way to leave no stars…I would.
Not at all what a parent would want for their child.
No communication with staff.
No communication with your child and a ridiculous no refund policy.
Sent my son home after he was injured and called his inability to participate in insane exercise in 100F heat, “insubordination”.
No refund for unused camp Sessions to the tune of thousands of dollars. (Wasn’t even allowed to bring home the clothing that we paid for.) Had to spring for an additional flight on a Holiday with less than 24hrs notice to retrieve my son. Tried to reason with “Col”

Please take negative reviews posted on this site seriously!!!

This camp should not be allowed to have kids younger than age 16 participate and even age 16 is pushing it.
Most 13, 14, and 15-year-olds are not psychologically or emotionally strong enough to handle their Full Metal Jacket Boot Camp.

The "Colonel" in charge is not actually a military Colonel. He was given that title. It was NEVER earned and yet he constantly preaches about how cadet titles are earned and not given. What a horrible role model!

He's extremely disrespectful to parents AFTER he locks in your nonrefundable

The cadre and drill instructors do a good job but i cant say the same for the boss of the whole operation, not enough sleep or food for growing young men and women and there aren't any contingency plans should a recruit want to leave.

This camp is tough. It's called Extreme Military Challenge...none of those three words mean easy. XMC does NOT accept delinquents or "troubled youth," focusing on those who have a call to serve society. Anyone that makes it through leaves with a sense of confidence an inner strength which is rare in today's youth.

Those that don't make it through, take the position of being a victim. The fact is, the cadre is the best there is.

This is not an "everyone gets a trophy" environment. The motto "HARDCORE or OUT the Door!" says it all.

XMC was the best ever for my kid. Granted this isn't a place for every kid. They have to want it. If you send them thinking it'll be like a scared straight program you'd be wrong (Dead Wrong).
This is as close to military as I've ever seen. As close as you can get with teenage minors anyway.
I respect and appreciate COL mission so much. I put my kid in the car, drove from Texas on our spring break and volunteered both our times for one week of hard work. Instead of a cruise or beach vacation we chose to spend it at XMC. Would not do anything different even now.

XMC is not for everyone but it is an amazingly ran camp that pushes your child and gets them to face fears and surpass anything they ever thought they could do. He just finished 3 weeks and although it was challenging he learned a lot and has come a long ways in that time. He is healthy, happy and excited to continue training to go back again. Every recruit and cadet I met was so kind, polite and thankful for the experience they had.
It is not a place to send your child if they don't want to go and it's most certainly not for delinquents either.

Flew in 2 days early from San Diego ca to tour the camp and meet staff. I believe the owner and his crew were racist. I had already paid the 5k in full. He was very disrespectful, condescending, loud, dismissive and referred to us as "you people" on multiple occasions throughout the conversation. He would not say what he meant by that nor why he was so hostile. Two of his goons came in as if they were going to jump us or something. I ended up taking my son and leaving, leaving the 5k on the table. Id rather have a live son than 5 thousand dollars. I am prior military and have delt with
