Sessions are taught on traditional Pilates apparatus based upon the classical method of Joseph Pilates. Originally dubbed "Contrology" by Pilates, this method of exercise is designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. The focus is on improving health and vitality through better posture, body mechanics, correct breathing, and spinal flexibility.
A century ago, Pilates engineered the equipment, specifications, and tuning required to teach the exercises now referred to as "Pilates." There is no question that the original approach can work wonders when facilitated by a qualified instructor who understands how to tailor a Pilates workout suited to your body and capabilities.

Developed in the 1920's, Pilates is a system of exercise that targets the deep muscles of the abdomen and spine to strengthen your body from the inside out. It is highly effective in helping to tone muscles and achieve a longer, leaner look without creating bulk.
Instead of only targeting the "vanity muscles" that you see when looking in the mirror, Pilates exercises also strengthen the postural muscles--the internal, stabilizing muscles of the body--to improve posture, balance, and core strength.
