Services
Most people with acne aren't satisfied with their skin, but don't know what else to do for better results. Now you can come to Clear, a special clinic within Northern Michigan MedCenter that specializes in acne treatment. And we do it well. If you think your skin could be doing better, you're right: Clear will have you looking your best.
Acne is a complex medical condition. At Clear, we are here to dispel those myths and help you get back that "clear" complexion. Acne (acne vulgaris) can appear on the face, neck, shoulders, back, and chest, and can be triggered by stress, hormones, medications, or cosmetics. Left untreated, it can lead to unsightly scarring.
More than 85% of teens have zits, which first appear around puberty (but can appear as early as age 8) due to sudden hormonal fluctuations. These changes trigger an overproduction of sebum (oil) in the oil glands, causing those clogged pores that eventually lead to acne. Growing up is hard enough without the added stress of acne, but you don't have to suffer - there are treatments for teens that can get rid of your acne.
Many men and woman make it through their teenage years acne-free only to be surprised when they start breaking out in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. Statistically, almost all acne resolves for males by the age of 25. But, adult women aren't so lucky. Adult women are especially susceptible to acne breakouts due to hormonal changes around their menstrual cycle, pregnancy, or peri-menopausal years.
Skin cancer rates continue to rise faster than any other cancer in the U.S. That's why the medical providers at Clear Clinic recommend (and perform) annual skin exams on our clients. If you do have a suspicious mole or other skin lesion, your provider will biopsy or remove it with special techniques to minimize scarring (see cosmetic lesion removal).

Wish we hadn't gone here. The dermatologist cut a larger area than necessary while removing a mole and it ended up leaving a scar that is bigger and more pronounced than the mole that was removed. The dermatologist should have used a more gentle touch and considered the long term cosmetic consequences left behind by heavy handed work. I would seek another clinic.

I had a great experience here with Dr. Lisa. She is kind and funny and puts patients at ease. I had never been to a dermatologist before and was very nervous about a few procedures I had to get done. She made it painless and easy for me without making me feel embarrassed or ashamed of my nerves. She has possibly the best bedside manner of any doctor I have encountered.

Had an amazing experience with Lisa Bowersox! She is thorough and answered all my questions. Her bedside manner is superb and hard to find these days! I had been referred by my doctor after having a skin issue. Before my doctor sent out a referral, I only asked that she did not send me to Dermatology Associates, because I have had terrible experiences with them. My doctor for sure chose the best place and best practitioner! I would recommend Clear Dermatology Clinic to all my friends and family. And for sure, Lisa Bowersox! :)
