Scott Nelson earned a doctorate degree in Physiology and Biophysics from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1990, and has held postdoctorate and research positions at the University of Iowa. In 1997, he decided to start his own computer consulting business. Soon after, The Mac Doctor was born.
Scott created The Mac Doctor for two reasons: he has always loved Macintosh computers and he has always enjoyed teaching. His research background has been invaluable in helping him to successfully evaluate, diagnose, and resolve issues with Apple hardware, operating systems, applications, and networks.

6-8 hours of curriculum developed while volunteer teaching the Senior Center in Iowa City. In addition to several semesters of teaching iPhone and iPads at the Senior Center in Iowa City, I have also trained 20+ people at the True North Insurance Company in Cedar Rapids Iowa. The head IT person at True North said that she felt the 1.5 hour presentation was "excellent"!
I can't imagine how our office survived without the Mac Doctor. Scott Nelson is cheerful, energetic yet calming, and incredibly knowledgeable; he has provided invaluable support in situations that range from emergency crashes to routine installations. Don't spend hours trying to troubleshoot puzzling problems at home or at work; call The Mac Doctor and get back to work quickly.

I am a graphic designer that works from home and Scott has been integral in keeping my Macs running the past several years, professionally and personally. He has been able to recover most of my data after multiple hard drive crashes. He is exceptionally responsive and knowledgeable, always taking the extra time to patiently and kindly explain things in detail. I could not appreciate his expertise and professionalism more!

When Scott Nelson arrived at my house, he conducted himself in a pleasant & professional manner. He put on a mask & gloves to ensure my health and safety. He had brought another pair of shoes to make sure that he didn’t track dirt into the house.
He then went to work on my computer and answered all of the questions which I directed to him. He is willing to go the extra mile to guarantee that I was satisfied with getting my computer up and running.
I highly recommend him and will readily give him another call if I need him.

If you are having any problems with your hardware or software, call The Mac Doctor. Scott has assisted me several times in upgrading the iOS on my Mac, learning new software, and dealing with a brand new printer that was defective. Scott is able to diagnose a problem quickly and then clearly explain the problem and the solution. That means he is a master of technology and an effective teacher. In addition to his technology skills, Scott is courteous, punctual, and very pleasant to work with. I recommend The Mac Doctor without Reservation!

I had foolishly been using an external hard drive as my primary source of data storage without replicating it often enough on my laptop, so when the external drive went out over the weekend, I panicked. But a friend recommended Scott, The Mac Doctor, to see if my data could be recovered. Within 24 hours of my first contact he had made 2 house calls and had recovered all of my data! He was a lifesaver! He was also very helpful in explaining what changes I needed to make to my document storage practices and in recommending a new Portable SSD that would meet my needs. He was very patient, thorough

Scott The Mac Doctor really knows his stuff. I could not recommend him more highly. He came to my home/office, fixed all of the issues from my Monterey OS installation in no time … all in less than 24 hours after contact, all the while imparting a lot useful information and wonderful conversation as well! Bravo Mac Doctor!

When I bought my new Mac mini I knew I didn't have the skill to transfer my files from my old mini to my new one. I was delighted to find The Mac Doctor's services available. Within a couple hours after I contacted him to ask if he could set up my new computer, he was at my home doing such.
The Mac Doctor was personable and professional. He asked pertinent questions concerning what I wanted/needed my computer to do. I appreciated how he explained what he needed to do. I also appreciated how he explained what he was doing while he was working. When an issue with a Microsoft product arose, he helped

I have used The Mac Doctor many times over the past three years. Sometimes it required his coming to my house to fix the problem. Sometimes it required just sending a text, to which he replied promptly. Sometimes it required a phone call. He replaced the hard drive in my iMac, which had slowed considerably, and now it runs as if it were brand new. Many times via text or phone conversation, he has refused to accept payment of any kind. Of course, this is his livelihood, and he needs to be paid, but he truly loves taking care of his clients' Mac problems. Last--and certainly not least--he really

Scott Nelson, a.k.a. The Mac Doctor, is the consummate professional and an outstanding Mac technician. My husband and I have used his services a few times over the past decade or so, and we have always, always been pleased with his work on our behalf.
Scott will pick up the computer at our home, fix it, then deliver the repaired computer to us. This is a huge convenience for busy people.
He doesn't stop with fixing it, however. He also takes time (even after being paid) to explain what went wrong and how to avoid problems in the future.

"The Mac Doctor" is a man named Scott. His website is "themacdoctor.net".
On his website he has the apple logo and he says that he is a "Certified Support Professional."
If you think that this makes him authorized to fix your Mac computer, which I did, you'd be wrong, just like I was. I hired the mac doctor to transfer my data from a back up drive to my new macbook pro after my old macbook crashed. To sum it up simply, working with him was a disaster from start to finish. He's also a liar, but I'll get to that later.
Again, please realize that
