I've been using this place, on and off, for 27 years, since I moved into the Somerset/Middlesex Counties area, of central New Jersey, back in the summer of 1993. The co-op is the original place in this area where you can find organic produce and bulk items for things like tamari roasted almonds or quinoa grains. It is a vegetarian co-op, and since I was a vegan from 1992 to 2006 (and still eat lots of healthy, natural stuff), this place has catered well to my needs, over the years. This was the first place that I ever found any nut butters that were not made from peanuts, such as: almond butter

One of the last remaining small heath food stores. I was happy to see items were fresher with dates

Great selection of staples as well as specialty foods. Got all the things I needed to celebrate Beltane for some specialized baking!

I’m used to seeing bulk food, especially with nuts, popcorn, and flour, BUT I was absolutely ecstatic to find that they have sugar and brown sugar in bulk! I still have enough sugar at the moment, but I’m definitely getting my sugar from here as soon as I run out!

Highly recommend the George Street Co-op (its on drift street in between Livingston Ave and George Street). Great organic food and good prices. Great and friendly staff. Wish I had found out about the co-op sooner!

My favorite shopping spot. They carry local dairy and eggs, naturally fermented foods and an amazing selection of snacks. The co-op has a large bulk goods section - grains, beans and herbs - which you can purchase in paper baggies or bring your own jars. Good food and less packaging.... love it.

Love this place! It's got a great supply of vegetarian and vegan foods, a killer snack section, wide selection of bulk goods, and lots of fun events after hours. I love popping in during my lunch break or on the weekend to snag a few items. Volunteers are super friendly too. I'm so glad I found this place. I'd love to see a wider selection of cosmetic and hygiene supplies that are vegan, zero waste, etc!

I read the review that Harmony left. That got me through the door. Then, I met Julia inside. She talked me into having lunch. We had a lovely chat about our cats. I got some coffee, the most amazing lentil and chickpea soup ever and a Moshe's eggless sandwich, some lavender oil and pine tar soap.
