Services
I've been providing bodywork in the Bay Area for over ten years now. First as a massage therapist, and now as a doctor who combines soft tissue work with joint adjusting. I feel that it's important for queers to have a safe space to have their bodies worked on.
Many of us already shoulder a lot of extra stress and tension from being constantly judged, worrying about what bathrooms we should use, and having to actively resist and fight back for our rights as our new state of "normal".When an unexpected pain or injury crops up, you want to have someone you can count on to help put you back together.

Dr. Sandy Baird offers Active Release Techniques therapies, which are the gold-standard in soft tissue treatments for problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART.
Do you have a nagging, frustrating pain that doesn't seem to go away with ice, stretching, or foam rolling? Well, I specialize in helping people resolve this type of injury, using a blend of muscle work and joint adjusting.
While it can sometimes be "less than comfortable" to physically (and emotionally) work through tight, restricted muscles in order to allow them to unwind their tension and restore their function, I'm always mindful of my client's tolerance for discomfort, and I've been told that I overall provide a very gentle and comfortable treatment experience that is very effective!Ever wonder why your shoulders hurt after swimming too many laps?

I only started seeing Dr. Sandy at their clinic in Oakland about a month ago but I've already seen so much improvement in my pain levels and mobility! I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis in my feet for years and have tried several chiropractors in the Bay Area, but none of them have had the detailed and professional approach to treating my issue the way Dr. Sandy has. In addition to chiropractic adjustments, they work in physical therapy prescriptions and body work into my sessions and that comprehensive approach has been essential to my progress. Dr. Sandy has also created such a safe space

I highly recommend Dr. Baird, especially if you have chronic pain. I started treatment a few months ago and their adjustments have vastly improved my quality of life. I'm better able to perform my physical therapy exercises and am enjoying more consistent pain-free days. I appreciate that they check in frequently to make sure I am comfortable, explain how different body parts are connected, and they have some great educational videos on their youtube channel which have been very helpful during weeks when I'm not able to come in for an appointment. They are a very skilled, kind, and comprehensive

Dr Baird is awesome! I started coming to her for a frozen shoulder a few years back, and my recovery was really accelerated by working with her. She employs a wide range of techniques, and has an amazing ability to hone in on the issue areas quickly. My desk-centric lifestyle is hard on my body, and she has helped me literally from head to toe. Highly recommended!

Dr. Sandy Baird is one of the best healthcare providers I have had in almost six decades of living in this mixed-race, chronically ill, trans body. They are communicative, highly skilled, non-judgmental, non-punishing, and informative. The experience is always pleasant because they are even-keeled, highly professional, and very personable.
I have been a patient for over two years, working mainly on a stubborn frozen shoulder. Over time my condition has improved considerably, thanks to their expertise.
They have taken COVID-related precautions, which gives me peace of mind. I trust that they operate

Dr. Sandy really understands active, busy bodies and how they work (or sometimes why they don't). Her combined skill and natural healing touch always help me with my running injuries or stress-related aches and pains. I feel comfortable and trusting in her approach and treatments, and she always gives me some homework to do on my own, encouraging accountability to take care of my own body beyond her cozy office!

Dr Baird is pretty much the best chiropractic practitioner I've ever seen... and I've seen more of them in my life than I'm comfortable admitting. She evaluates and treats all of my work injuries, parenting injuries, sports injuries, (read: my general hot mess of a body) and always hits the nail on the head with respect to identifying the issue and treating it effectively.
Please go see her.
