The Volunteers in the community can trace its history back to 1983, when the Four Corners Volunteer Fire Department was established to cover Four Corners, Glencoe, Sorrell, and the Port of West St. Mary Area.

In April of 1990 St. Mary Parish Government formed the St. Mary Parish Fire Protection District #11 Board of Commissioners, under Ordinance No. 1096 of the St. Mary Parish Council for the purpose of providing fire protection, medical assistance, and extrication rescue.The District encompasses all territory north of the Intracoastal Waterway in Ward One and Two.

The goal of this statewide initiative is to dramatically reduce these fire related injuries and deaths across the State of Louisiana by providing smoke alarms to vulnerable citizens and at risk communities with the help of your local fire department.

The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal is proud to present "Operation Save A Life", a public service campaign designed to increase awareness and educate consumers about the dangers of fire, its related hazards and how to prevent them.
