Technician came out to assess hot water heater. Advised we needed to replace the whole thing for over $2,000. Charged an $85 service call fee. Met with an electrician and was able to change the heating element and thermostat for around $30. Hot water heater now works better than before. Clearly this business looks for the most profitable solution rather than the most economical/sensible solution.

A live, knowledgeable person answered the phone. The tech was here 3 hrs after I called, which was already late morning. And he got the AC running for the price of the service call.
There's a switch that will need to be replaced before I need heat next winter. But I have AC now and time to budget.

I am writing this after bracing for my call to these folks. So it looks like I am writing a review before the service, but that is not the case.
My guest quarters central went out about a week ago. Being a researcher and not needing immediate help I learned that if I can wait until cooler weather (November??) I may save some money.
I went through my service people and remembered Batchelor's for their fast service and always-thorough work. They installed my systems 28 years ago! Last year the main level died of old age. Batchelor's was here pronto. As always they thoroughly explained
