The attorneys at Severns & Howard, P.C. are dedicated towards working together with families to develop comprehensive care plans to ensure you and your loved ones are protected for your immediate and future needs.

Preparing for the future can be overwhelming. There are countless precautions you need to take to make sure you or a family member's health care and finances will not be put at risk. Services
We know the issues you are dealing with are sensitive. We focus on empowering those we represent, often parents and veterans who are seeking to create comprehensive estate plans. Our attorneys and staff have a deep understanding of the sensitive nature of the elder law issues we handle. We are committed to helping you navigate the complex legal issues involved with elder law.
Scott Severns began advocating for the elderly and disabled in 1976 as an employee of Indiana Legal Services Organization (LSO). He began his work in the Senior Citizens and Public Benefits Units of LSO representing the disabled. It was there where he was first exposed to the Medicaid public benefits program.
If people thought of estate planning as a simple, enjoyable process, people would be rushing to have their estate plans established by the time they reached their early 20s. But most people think of estate planning as a uniquely complex, challenging endeavor. They either wait too long or they take the easy route of using an online do-it-yourself form that often results in errors in their planning or final wishes.
According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, there are approximately 10 million veterans age 60 and older. Our veterans, like others, will start to see increase care costs as they age. The Veteran's Administration has a variety of programs which provide assistance to those who are eligible.

One frequently-overlooked benefit that applies to many of our veterans and their surviving spouses is the Aid and Attendance benefit offered by the Veteran's Administration. The Aid and Attendance pension program provides cash payments to veterans who served during a period of war or conflict to help cover the costs of home care, assisted living and nursing home services.
Medicaid is a program which offers many benefits to Americans. Medicaid is a helpful financial resource for nursing homes and other long-term care options. Medicaid currently pays for nearly 70% of the costs of nursing home care in the United States, and also provides services for assisted living care and in-home care.

Anna and Alesha have taken excellent care of our family as we continue to navigate an Alzheimer’s diagnosis for my beloved father. I highly recommend their team as I’ve experienced their competence, quick response times (especially in crisis), and empathy and customer care. They’ve made end of life planning much easier than it would be otherwise.

This is THE place to go for all of your ElderCare needs. Scott, Jackie, and all of the staff are incredibly proficient and kind in their approach to their practice. It doesn't matter how large or small your estate is, you will not find a better elder law firm in the Untied States. There is a reason that Scott Severns and Anna Howard are the leading elder estate lawyers in the United States. We have recommended their firm to several of our friends and everyone who has worked with Scott and Anna have all said the same thing that they are so grateful that Scott and Anna work in this area of law. I could not have navigated or provided for the financial needs of my elderly parents when they were near the end of their lives without the guidance and expertise of Anna Howard. I was coordinating care for my parents from another state and was able to communicate regularly with her to provide for them. I will always be grateful to Severns & Howard.

Anna was very knowledgeable about wills and trusts for elderly and also about Veteran benefits. Explained everything in a relaxed atmosphere in a way we could understand. She helped put our minds at ease for the future so that our daughter would be able to handle
our needs and finances . I would recommend her to others.
