Depending on the value of your assets at your death, there could be a federal and/or MA estate tax (as well as an estate tax in other states where you own real estate).

As important as a Will or Trust might be to ensure that your wishes are followed upon death, the following documents are essential because they deal with your decisions in the event that you are alive but incapacitated or disabled. This is a document where you appoint a Health Care Agent ("Agent") to make medical decisions on your behalf in the event that you are unable to make or communicate your medical decisions.
Once your children turn 18, they are legally considered "adults" and you, as parents, lose your legal rights as their decision-makers, as well as the ability to access their information, even if your children are still on your health insurance plans and even if you still claim them as dependents on your tax returns.

Attorney Gorenberg has developed the estate plan for my family and completed accompanying documents, including trust, health proxies, power of attorney, wills, property deeds and others. Throughout the process she provided clear vision, logical explanations, prompt written summaries of our conversations. For years, my husband and I had been putting off preparing our estate plan (EP) partly out of concerns over our unfamiliarity with the legal procedure, amount of time it would take to pull together the requirements and the challenges of finding the right lawyer. We finally decided to bite the bullet and picked out Robin's name from the internet after reading a couple of reviews. Turns out Robin is the expert estate attorney for a few area law firms but also takes direct clients... she met with us without delay, things went very smoothly, she gave us sound advise regarding planning and family considerations, and the entire process of working up the typical package of estate documents went smoothly and the cost was very reasonable.

I consider myself very lucky to have found Robin Gorenberg to help me with my estate issues. My father died several years ago and when my mother passed away recently, it became apparent that the lawyer who handled his estate was a disaster. Robin did a wonderful job advising me, saving me an incredible amount of money in taxes, and cleaning up the mess.
