Services
John and Peggy Chapple were 22 years old when they packed up their lives, said goodbye to their families in New York and drove to Alaska. They ended up in Homer after a fateful encounter with a local who recommended the small fishing town and changed the course of the Chapple's Alaskan adventure. Originally guests at the campground themselves, John and Peggy bought the business in the winter of 1973.
Experience beautiful Homer, Alaska through the many activities and entertainment options available in Homer and on The Spit! One of the best parts about working with our guests is the opportunity to share the place we love with so many new people. We understand that the time you spend in our campground is just a fraction of the time you'll spend in Homer and want to help you make memories that will last a lifetime.

Open campgrounds that are easily accessible. Campgrounds supervisor allowed parking directly on campsite. Price is fair because of the amenities provided (showers, bathrooms, potable water). Lovely experience all around.

Absolutely fantastic right on the beach with an option of power or no power. Showers were very separate and clean with no time limit. Overall all staff were super nice and friendly. Would come back in a heartbeat.

They were not willing to work with us on a refund or even partial refund. They were happy to take my deposit although they likely filled my spot since it's the busiest wknd of the year. We were regulars, but will be finding another Campground from now on. They're over priced anyway. We won't be back.

This is a solid campground. Out on the tip of the spit produces some really good views when the weather is clear. There are fire pits next to each slot which maximizes convenience. Restrooms are pretty clean, and you can pay $2 to take a real shower in there centralized shower area. Bathrooms were very adequate. Walking distance to a lot of the shops and restaurants in Homer which is also convenient. Laundry seem to work well, check in process was easy. Staff was really nice, A+.

Great campground! Right on the beach! Nice showers that are separate from the restrooms with teak wood.. very clean and hot and unlimited time! The laundry facilities are nice and they sell laundry soap if needed. They also have quarters at the office.

Showers are great. Laundry room has two washers working and 4 driers working. A couple more needs repairs. Direct access to beach, very nice to walk all the way to the ferry/Lands End.

Nice campground. Right on the water/beach. Great location close to town (walkable). Relatively clean. My problem was with noise. We were in an RV. Large dog in tent site next to us was barking too much at night. That along with the loud seagulls (couple landed & walked on our roof) meant very little sleep for me. I wish they would only allow dogs in hard sided RVs/trailers, or locate tents with dogs in a different area of the park. Nice place, but I wouldn't return for this reason.

50/50 on this. Location is nice but it’s very compact and cramped. Personally think it needs to be re done and laid out a different way. Showers cost money which kinda stinks. Great views and right on the beach with the downside of being so close you can hear your neighbor sneeze. Would I go again….no. I’d stay at the KOA and get more room and just make the 7 min drive to the spit.

Fun pull in camping right on the spit. Set up a tent or RV and then roam the spit before coming back to home base. Super friendly staff and clean facilities. A bit close to everyone, but it really doesn't matter everyone is having fun. Try and get the sites closest to the water if you can.

Management kicked us out with zero consideration for our needs as customer.
Terrible amenities: our spot was very close bathrooms, super full dumpster, and dump station. I parked my truck so as to keep people at all hours from walking through our site and we didn’t have to see people spilling black water during their dumps. Truck did not block anybody or anything. I’m most upset that management didn’t even listen to my perspective - they just canceled our remaining days and refunded our money.
Finally see pictures showing super full dumpster overflowing with garbage, narrow path for people
