Such aggressive action must still follow debt collection laws and cannot violate the individual's consumer rights. These lawsuits are usually a creditor's last resort to obtain repayment, generally after collection calls or auto repossession.

When a credit repair agency comes along boasting of schemes to improve your credit and even erase bankruptcy, you might be tempted to bite the bait without thinking twice. When the mortgage company began screwing things up like switching my payments, I was at a loss with what to do. So, I took to the internet to find an attorney to help sort it all out. Having just completed law school, I was surprised at the kind of response one gets from simply looking around on the internet. Unethical and a thief. Will take your money, will promise you that he dealt with your issue before and can guarantee result. As soon as you pay him, he will go quiet, then stop communicating without an answer and threaten to stop representing you if you keep contacting him. STAY AWAY. He will try to sweet talk you to paying without signing an agreement, then later claim money is nonrefundable and show you an agreement he never mentioned nor that you signed.

I called Michael Forbes' office on a Thursday and left a message. He called me back himself 10 minutes later in a rushed tone saying he didn't have time to talk but would listen briefly.
In the brief time that we talked and he heard what I had to say, he was very positive as it is something he has written about and was very passionate about saying that I was wronged, even calling the business "dirt", and that they think they can get away with it because people won't bother to pursue.
