Therapy will give you the insight into why you experience situations and relationships in the way you do. Often this type of exploration leads you to identify where else, and in what other ways, the problems or challenges exist. Couples often seek the help of a therapist when one or both partners recognize problems in the relationship such as different goals, struggles with intimacy, or communication difficulties.
Entering therapy is making an investment in yourself. Dedication to the process, will help you feel better and improve your ability to deal with the specific issues that brought you to therapy. You will also likely gain skills and resilience that you can draw upon when facing other challenges in your life now and in the future.
Beginning the process of therapy is for many people both empowering and challenging. It may raise some anxiety and fear. That is to be expected. This is why I encourage my clients to set the tone and pace of their sessions. The goal of therapy is to help you better understand your emotions, behaviors, and perceptions.
Couples often seek the help of a therapist when one or both partners recognize problems in the relationship such as different goals, struggles with intimacy, or communication difficulties.
