Matz Rightway charged us more money to look at our our boiler and tell us they had to come back to fix it than Mendenhall charged to fix it completely. We got the boiler from Matz Rightway only four years ago and they wanted a whopping $1000 to fix a small leak. Plus they charged us an excessive fee to come out and tell us they were not prepared to fix it on the spot. Mendenhall fixed it for less than Matz Rightway’s abortive first visit.

My contracting corporation used Matz Rightway to replace a geo thermal heat pump in a customer's home. Right from the beginning, that installation did not perform correctly. As the low voltage portion of the system was not part part of the contract with Matz, my company installed Nest E thermostats to replace the existing non-WIFI stats. As close-up photos show, the Nest stats were wired exactly as the existing stats. The customer moved in at the end of the summer season and the cooling portion was put to the test and did not work well. When we called Matz back to figure out the problem, they stated

They charge you to send someone over to estimate the cost of your job if you don't agree to the estimate. Otherwise they waive it.
Also, they are lousy at following through with things they say they will do like sending the actual estimate. They never sent me an estimate even though i asked for it twice. Then, because I never got it, I never approved it so they sent me a bill for generating the estimate instead! There techs seems to know what they are doing though.

We manage a good sized office building in the Port Jefferson area and recently decided to replace the remaining 6 heaters since the remaining 3 had been replaced more recently. Keith and his crew worked around the schedules of our tenants and installed those last 6 heaters in less time than originally projected. They worked cleanly and their crew was very polite and respectful of our tenants and their guests. I would not hesitate to recommend them for your projects and more importantly I will use them for any projects we have in the future.

Doesn't keep appointments unless your a contract holder. How do you expect to get customers like this!!
Made an appointment weeks ago before the heat came, now because of other people issues my appointment gets changed. I don't want to have an emergency that's why I made an appointment. Horrible way to do business. All customers are important not just contract holders.

I have been a Matz-Rightway customer for almost 15 years and at several different locations in East Hampton. I have always used them to perform the seasonal service on our AC and HVAC systems. During this time I have appreciated their high-quality and attentive service, so there was no question that, when I bought a 1890 cottage in the village, that Matz would install the AC systems for me. I have always found the office staff to be super helpful and the field technicians very knowledgeable and almost obsessive compulsive in their approach to their work. I Have used Matz-Rightway for almost a decade. I find them to be very responsive, knowlegable & customer focused. I have a Priority Maintenance Agreement which entitles me to have my HVAC system maintained 2x/yr. I recently had a dispute regarding a spring service call that required a 2nd visit because it was too cold to check system properly. When I went to use the AC for the first time when it did get hot, the condenser was not running & it did not work. They had to send a technician , who in less than a minute reset the high pressure switch. Originally I received a bill of 146.64 for

The worst. The woman manning the phones doesn't even apologize for making you wait 5+minutes on hold only to them not be able to provide you with any update on the part she ordered. What's even worse is that Matz gave the AC a clean bill of health in July, were called back again in early August and again in late August. On the THIRD visit I finally got an honest technician, who told me that the fan motor has likely been brown for quite some time (last two guys missed it!). Do not, do not use Matz--they are at best really bad at their jobs and at worst simply dishonest.

They wanted to charge me $850. for a $182.part with installation. I now remember why we never renewed our contract with them. I would like to point out I was not aggressive or rude. I was willing to keep the service contract, but cancel the part and have my husband do it himself since he was qualified and licensed. They wanted to break the agreement. They would call me back and let me know. However they were extremely assertive over the phone. Contract now cancelled.
It's really shameful that business ethics and customer service has fallen so low.

I used them years ago when they were truly a local business. Made the mistake of dealing with them for a house that was about 1000sq. foot. The job took 5 months as they fumbled with there "schedule" and each time seemed to up the price just when they had you committed enough. It was a terrible experience!...Customer service is non existent unless it was them trying to get you to pay for each part of the job way in advance. I now know why.
