A familiar face, Manny Hernandez rejoins Lubbock Sports Medicine as a Physician Assistant for Dr. Kevin Crawford after serving a number of years as a clinical coordinator/athletic trainer previously. He is a graduate of the University of North Dakota's Physician Assistant Program and also holds a Master's of Athletic Training Degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Shephard is an orthopaedic surgeon committed to the reconstruction of arthritic joints. He is focused on the treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and all other forms of joint destruction by means of surgical preservation and replacement of affected joints.
In a recent effort to focus on providing the most modern treatment options he has completed a fellowship in adult joint reconstruction at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.During this comprehensive educational period Dr. Shephard gained experience in industry-leading minimally invasive joint replacement techniques, partial joint replacement techniques, as well as joint resurfacing procedures.

Dr. Karl Pankratz, who earned his MD from Texas Tech in 2003, has experience in a wide range of orthopedic problems. He has special interests in knee pain and robotic-assisted surgery. My husband had knee surgery in March 2021 this is what he knee looked like the next day. Dr. Shepard did such a wonderful job. Dr Shepard and his staff are so wonderful my husband was treated so good. We have recommended Dr Sheppard to so many of our family and friends. Knowledgeable and friendly doctors, assistants, x-ray tech, and all other staff. I was very pleased with how everyone listened well to the details of what was wrong, and that the first recommendation wasn't necessarily for surgery. Dr. Campbell explained a few different options for now and for the future. Very organized office and all the workers seemed pleased to be there.

I had rotator cuff surgery. Mark Caffey worked so patiently with me and I never once experienced experienced any pain or discomfort. I never felt rushed in my PT. My visit was outstanding with Dr J. Simpson. He is very knowledgeable and took the time to explain exactly what my condition was and what the treatment options are. He answered all my questions and was very kind and pleasant. The facility is very clean and modern and all the support staff are helpful and friendly. Definitely a 5 star experience!

It's good to know that in the unfortunate event you should require orthopedic care, Lubbock Sports Medicine has the expertise to take care of your issues. Dr. Shephard was my chosen surgeon for bilateral total hip replacement and I couldn't be more pleased. Not only is he very skilled in his work, he's easy to talk to as well. A recent visit to see Dr. Crawford's PA, (Mannie Hernandez), yielded me the same knowledgeable and respectful professionalism. I strongly recommend LSM for anyone in need of orthopedic care.

Great experience. I honestly try to avoid going to the doctor. I am never sure if I have a problem or if a bit of time will help. Plus, I’m not too fond of the process. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy, and pain-free everything went. It was fast, everyone was friendly and helpful, and Dr. Crawford was excellent. I felt satisfied with my visit and hopeful for my plan of care.
