You've been driving for hours when at last you see the sign you've been looking for. Just a few more turns here. Up a hill here. You pull into the gravel driveway, put the car in park, turn off the ignition and take in the stillness. I love it here at the Pineapple. It is a clean cabin that could be lived in with all the important amenities like cooking and clothes washing.

It definitely gives you the mountain cabin experience with fireplace and wooden paneling with mountain-view windows all across the living room. But there is so much more here. The town is quaint and friendly. What a great place. Huckle Chuckle is nestled into the village of Eagles Mere. Right on the lake.
Services
When Eagles Mere was founded back in 1804, there were no street addresses (heck, there was barely a postal service back then, so there wasn't much call for them). So when houses were built, folks gave them unique and at times arcane names. And if you wanted to locate a particular place you might find yourself asking the two old guys you saw whittling on the porch of the general store.
You pull up and turn off the ignition. Put the kickstand down and look around. A few cars and bikes are parked outside. Some of the old gang made it here before you. Your boots crush the gravel as you you head on up to the front door, and from inside you can hear the jukebox playing a classic tune that stops you in your tracks for just a moment.
The family of whitetail are back. Every day, around this time lately, they've been ambling through the back yard grazing on berries and grass. You watch them from your favorite chair on the porch. A glass of Pinot Grigio in one hand. A plate of really good cheese on the table nearby. You're quiet, but they know you're there.
