At Colvig Silver Camps, our goal is to facilitate the development of caring, thoughtful, and responsible human beings. With a 3:1 camper to staff ratio we accomplish our mission by developing connection within our community, within ourselves, and with the world around us. Our caring and committed staff intentionally guides the creation of a positive environment tailored to age specific development.
We set aside wins and losses and let campers create their own unique experience daily to focus on personal challenges and overcoming obstacles. Adventures into our diverse alpine and desert landscapes develop leadership skills and independence while inspiring confidence. All CSC out of camp trips take place on the public lands governed by the Bureau of Land Management and the USDA Forest Service.

Our mission, "To facilitate the development of caring, thoughtful, and responsible human beings, " is the driving force behind what we do at Colvig Silver Camps. As schools and sports focus on an academic and physical education throughout the school year, we focus on developing the relational skills it takes to be successful in today's world.
Campers get to choose their activities nearly every day, making their experience at Colvig Silver Camps extremely unique. Every summer our counseling staff develop a completely new and unique activity schedule for campers that provide them with opportunities to learn new skills, discover interests, and create lasting memories.
When a camper from Colvig Silver Camps tells you a story, it will most likely be a memory of one of their adventures on the trail. Colvig Silver Camps is located in the foothills of the beautiful San Juan Mountains amidst the diverse regions of southwest Colorado and southeast Utah. The surrounding alpine and desert landscape has just about everything a young adventurer could dream of exploring.
Our longer camp duration and advantageous 3:1 camper to staff ratio allows for meaningful connections to be made between campers and staff. We are fundamentally coed because that's the way the world works. We do place boys and girls into separate programs from ages 11 - 13 allowing our campers to build a strong sense of self as well as lasting friendships at that stage in life.
Girls ages 11 - 13 begin to discover who they are and who they want to be within a sisterhood that is led by a staff of positive and healthy female role models. Silver Saddle cabins reside in the heart of our valley, and are the most traditional of camp cabins providing the perfect environment for girls to create a community of mutual respect and great friendships.

CSC is a magical place that fosters human development through an environment that feeds the imagination, encourages personal growth, and nourishes the soul (and belly--love that Nancy Bread!). I cannot think of a better experience to gift to someone than to share the wonder and joy of the Red Creek Valley. The memories and relationships I formed there will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Both of my daughters have attended CSC for years, and I was a camper there myself years ago. It's a magical place! They create a wonderful balance between challenging kids to push themselves on trips, and creating a place where kids can just have fun, be silly & creative, and be themselves while in camp. It's a great way for kids to unplug from technology, spend their days out of doors, make new friends and experience some incredibly beautiful natural surroundings. I've experienced many different camps, and none come close to CSC!

Both my son and daughter have been attending Colvig for the past 4 summers. It is their favorite place in the world. I love it because they have incredible experiences (like peaking 14-ers) and are free of any devices or electronics for 4 whole weeks. They have made lifelong friendships. My son's self-esteem is always at its peak after Colvig. Highly recommend!

This family owned and operated camp is a unique and transformative experience for kids. It's a non competitive camp focused on backpacking and the outdoors. Along the way the kids become great friends and learn to support one another with empathy and love. It's not unusual for parents to travel across the country to send their kids here based on their own experiences at the camp growing up.
