Pictured here is an image of Samuel Fineberg and his business card, a true piece of Rutland Vermont history. Sam's son, Max Fineberg continued his father legacy in 1941 opening the 2nd Generation Fineberg Family footwear store, Ronay's Famous Shoes in downtown Rutland. Three years later in 1982, Max Fineberg's son Greg Fineberg opened his 5000 square foot family footwear store called Sensible Shoe.

Who says personalized service is a thing of the past???? You'll find it at Sensible Shoes! I wanted to surprise my best friend in VT with a gift certificate there so she could go in and get the perfect fit for a pair of Hokas. I called and spoke to Jobin (sorry if I spelled it wrong!) who even honored my request to call her personally and tell her she has a surprise waiting for her there. He was so nice to deal with, it made me want to drive the 4.5 hours to Vermont to get MY next pair there.

Another great experience at Sensible Shoe! The customer service is the best around. Blair helped me find a nice pair of low ankle Keens that fit my needs with pace and a great attitude. He took the time to show me multiple brands and types in multiple sizes until I found the right one. He even looked up my purchase history to help me understand the sizing I'd purchased in the past, which was an integral part of my decision. He took the time to answer every one of my questions with an honest and thorough answer. He also took the time to run me through their aetrex scanner, finding me the best pair

We just moved to the area and the folks here were incredibly helpful in assisting us with finding some adequate footwear for outdoor use. Everyone working there is incredibly polite and we ended up spending more time talking with them than shopping for shoes since their recommendations were perfect for us. Best looking shoes in the area. Period. They are higher end shoes so you're going to pay more, but it's worth every penny. They stand behind their products and do everything they can to get the best shoe for you. Staff is super cool and make you feel like you're their buddy. Just a fun place to shop.

I ordered two pairs of shoes at the end of July.
The first pair that came in fit great and I was happy with the quality and comfort of the shoes.When I received my second pair of shoes I was very happy but they didn't fit quite right. Unfortunately I didn't try them on when I picked them up however when I realized that there was a problem I was able to send them back and order a different pair no problem. Except for the misunderstanding on my part about when to expect the order I am very happy about the service and quality of the footwear this establishment carries. And because of my unusual foot

What a find! Internet search lead us to Sensible Shoes after learning that my snow boots did not make it into the car for recent ski trip to Killington. Got a great pair of Keen boots on SALE! Husband also got a pair also on sale! They carry all the brands we love at a discount. Hope to make it a regular stop when in Vermont. Sales staff very friendly and knowledgeable.

Great shoe store especially for all you AT/LT hikers!!! Hopped off the trail to dump my heavy boots and get a lighter pair of trail shoes. They've got everything anyone might want - Solomon, Keen, Merrill, Brooks, New Balance, etc. Really great service. I was back on the trail with a comfy new pair of women's Solomon's and some Darn Tough socks in no time!

On November 28th (Black Friday) of 2014 my fiancé and I made a trip to Sensible Shoe in Rutland VT to purchase some new boots. As soon as we entered we were greeted with smiles and asked if we needed any helped. Never have we felt so welcomed. Greg assisted us in finding the warmest winter boots for women he had in stock. As well as a pair of the warmest steel toe men's winter work boots.
Greg and his staff are well trained and highly educated with all of the merchandise they sell in this store

Do not buy from this store! I was in there this weekend, I live in NY my family lives in VT. I came in to buy a $100 pair of Ugg Slippers for my 80 year old mother. Before I purchased the slippers I asked one of the managers if I could return them knowing how particular my mother was. The store manager said yes, absolutely. My mother did not like the slippers since she is petite and did not like something so heavy on her feet. I returned to the store the very next day and they refused to return my money. They would only offer me a store credit! This is just bad business and they have lost a customer
