The children's division is for new and returning students. These classes introduce children ages 3-8 to their first years of dance training. Classes build basic motor skills, coordination, rhythm, musicality, and creativity. Fundamental ballet terms and positions are introduced, along with folk and improvisatory dances.
Our Recreational Division is for new and returning students ages 8-14 years old. This will allow the students to choose classes in which they would like to attend. Please note that taking these classes will not progress the student to the next level for the following semester. The first half of the class focuses on ballet fundamentals that serve as a base for technique and alignment.
Levels in this division are graded by age, physical strength, technique, and psychomotor development. Our curriculum stresses the importance of relating other techniques such as Modern and Jazz to the dancer's ballet technique. The elements that each technique brings are considered necessary in today's dance world.
New! BeMoved: is a dance class experience that inspires people of all movement levels to fully express themselves through dance. Within the structure of a BeMoved class, the Genre section is inspired by different musical styles, social dances, and dance disciplines. Most BeMoved class choreography has been performed on a stage by professional actors, singers, and dancers somewhere in the world.
Year round BarreVite: a dynamic, energizing, full body ballet inspired work out that includes: cardio, strength, core, stability, balance and flexibility. Year-round Cardio Tap: an exhilarating cardio and coordination work out with a tap lessons to fun modern music. Rockford Dance Company is a proud partner of Silver Sneakers, which allows Silver Sneakers members to participate in our Active Adult classes at no charge.

This is the place for the highest quality dance training and performance opportunity. A wide variety of classes for children and adults taught by highly credentialed instructors. The teachers stress postive personal development and encouragement for all students. You can't get better dance instruction and education in this region.

This past week I went to Rockford Dance Company to enroll my daughter in Fall sessions. The staff was very unprofessional. While I waited to speak to someone regarding the different classes options, prices, & etc. two staff members discussed an Emily's personal life. The discussion was very "mean girl", stating Emily has been divorced twice before turning 40, fakes being once in a abusive relationship- "why did she desperately try to get this ex back if he was abusive", & is currently in a relationship with a guy who cheats on her, but she puts up with it because this man has money. This was all

Classes in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and numerous other types of dance. For very young kids up through teens and adults. Classes for active seniors and developmentally disabled. Dance is so good for physical and mental development. This is the group that puts on Nutcracker every year. Beautiful facilities. Awesome peer group for kids.

I really disliked my experience here. During the summer my daughter took a four week class. The first week a rude lady tought who was awful, the second week all parents and children were waiting 30min over time and the teacher never showed up. Parents kept going to the office like hello how unprofessional is it for one, no teacher showing up, but two no one was rushing in to fill her spot. Finally someone from the office came to teach, with no good teaching technique, and said the first instructor had quit over the weekend. It should have been sorted out who was going to fill in before our assigned

My daughters have had wonderful life experiences with the Rockford Dance Company! Each starting their exposure to dance at age 3 in the Rockford Dance School (located in the Riverfront Museum Park). They learned, what I call the Deee's; discipline, dedication, devotion, development, desire, determination, and yes, disappointment was all part of their education. They now use all these tools in their adult lives. My girls are three years apart and have very different personalities, needs and gifts. Dance suited all of them.
I'm especially proud of my girls. Today they are happy, productive adults
