Love this little gem. It is a stand just dockside to a marina.
Beautiful And peaceful surroundings. We ordered the grilled Mahi mahi sandwich and the fried po' boy oyster sandwich. You go up to window #1 and order, they give you a beeper when your food is done. Within 5 minutes the beeper went off. Then you go to window #2 for pick up. Both sandwiches came on a baguette roll.
Each came with crispy French fries and a side of coleslaw they were big delicious sandwich's .
They had umbrella covered picnic tables. Facing the marina. As of now they do not have indoor dining.

Fantastic! Grilled Mahi sandwich is incredible, as are the french fries. The location is beautiful, right where my dad docked a family boat as a child. You'll have to scope out tables constantly when they're busy because it's a place where you wait in line to order at a window, and then get a buzzer for your food. Then you sit where you want.
It's worth it

Used to be a favorite spot. Ordered their signature lobster roll and there were no meat pieces. Just shredded style lobster, like for a salad. They also pulled the ponzu tuna from the menu, which was incredible. And yeah, like others, not a big fan of giving 20% tips for no service. Love you guys but wazup?

We have passed the marine and Cafe many times via the waterways and happened upon it while driving through Hampton Bays. We should have known it was good just by having to chat with two separate parking attendants upon entering the lot. Many shady, waterfront and patio tables available. Walk up and order via window one, when you are buzzed for ready, go to window two, easy as can be. Plenty of seafood and landlover options. We had chicken sandwich and burgers and fries. Everything was hot, delicious and plentiful. Full bar and soft drinks. Very nice presentation and packaging for to go. Look

Great food with a great vibe (even on a slightly cloudy day)! Everything on the menu is great. Being gluten free it was a big win that the wings are gluten free (although cross contamination with frier noted) and sweet potato fries as well. I enjoyed both with a burger (no bun). The rest of the party enjoyed the lobster roll and gave fab reviews.
Friendly staff and a very enjoyable meal - will definitely be back again.

So we met two friends here for lunch on a warm day in early November. It was warm enough to eat outside on the dock overlooking the boats.
Parking, after you find it down & around the building, is cramped. You order drinks & food & pay at the window.
They deliver to your table. They were very nice. About as expensive as expected.
My wife & her buddy ordered the lobster rolls. They both agreed these were the best ever. My friend got a steak which he said was ok.
I got a fried chicken sandwich, which so huge & so good I can't believe it. Fries on the side were ordinary

This place is good, very good! I advice you secure a table first (no table service). The food was very good as well, fairly priced for the area (so $$) I got the fried chicken and it was deliciously crunchy outside, with a juicy white meat inside - generous breast of chicken, and tasty/crunchy fried!

Expensive little restaurant on the sound. We went on a windy fall day and it was such a pretty view. We ordered food at the window - buffalo cauliflower and the Mediterranean plate. Both were done in a timely manner and were delicious! We did not like the roasted eggplant part of the plate but everything else was delicious. They have a big cooler of water in a few spots which I really loved because I'm always waiting for my server to bring more!

I came to canal cafe last weekend on a rainy day. There was ample outdoor seating and the dock with boats and yachts were right in front of the Cafe which was super cool.
The food here was hands down best of all the food we had during our Hampton trip. We kept talking about it...the lobster roll, the fries, the beer battered shrimp. Like everyday about the beer battered shrimp. We kept singing and reminiscing over that one particularly haha. Even talked about it today, how we have to revisit on a nice sunny day like today. And hence why I remembered to write this review.

Outdoor Dining Review: Now I finally know why the Canal Cafe Lobster Roll is so famous!
Located on The Shinnecock Canal, this restaurant has gorgeous views mixed with a cool ocean breeze. Large parking lot. The lot is shared with the marina parking. They have valet at the marina but didn't for the restaurant when I went (Sunday). The lot attendants were very helpful showing us the way to the cafe parking. There are plenty of outdoor tables. Some in the shade, some in the sun. Lots of people were pulling up on their boats to get food.
The service was quick and incredibly friendly. Due to

Open and ready for the 2019 season, the Canal Cafe offers you a great chance to enjoy waterfront dining inside or out. There is a casual atmosphere here and in summertime you can a front row seat for boat watching on the Shinnecock Canal. Nightly specials are always the first place to check and then you have a delightful array of soups and chowders, oysters and shrimp appetizers just to name a few. I think their homemade sun dried hummus to be exceptional and their salads are fresh, crisp and dressed to be devoured. You have a nice selection of fresh fish to choose from as well as traditional favorites
