In as little as one hour, your project could be started. The specifics can be worked out via email and/or telephone. A second meeting is often needed to work out design details and choose color & style selections of various products.
This process can be done with no cost to you. That's right! We do all this for free, if we design your project and the majority of the material is purchased from Lakes Area Building Center. Services
Our facility, Lakes Area Building Center, was first built in 1981. Additional buildings were incorporated in 1982 & 1984, making it a full lumber yard. From the beginning, lumber and building materials have been our major business. Most of our products are stored indoors, out of the elements, to keep premium materials in prime condition.
Many of you are do-it-yourselfers and want to handle a project on your own. We understand and respect that. But, sometimes you just need a little help figuring out how to estimate costs, the amount of building supplies you need, or actually design a project. Never fear! We also have some how-to videos on another page in our site that can help you in other ways.
Lakes Area Building Center offers a service that very few home centers do. We can help you design and visualize your new home, new addition, or remodeling project. We utilize the latest in computer aided design (CAD) software called Softplan. This software is capable of making 3-D models as well as placing furniture into the drawings to assist in the final floor plan and fixture placement.
PlanitDIY has a Project Finder that provides guidance on easy projects that include plumbing, electrical, heating, lawn & garden, painting, and many more. The "Support Video" walks you through step-by-step how to join and login to take full advantage of PlanitDIY services. Lakes Area Building Center has made its own, more detailed videos for those who are a little more advanced in their do-it-yourself experience.
