Dr. James Newby is a Chattanooga native. He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Tennessee Family Practice program here in Chattanooga in 2004. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, has special interests in preventative medicine, wellness and orthopaedics.

He is a great doctor and extremely attentive... Until you are diagnosed with a mental health problem. From then on, physical problems cannot exist. Have head numbness and drooping eyelids? No, you can't have an MRI because you are depressed so you must be making all this up. Go find a psychiatrist. 🙄

I met with his nurse to talk about Onsight (an exercise studio that bridges the gap between medicine and fitness). She was friendly and engaging. I appreciated the time she took to listen our product and look forward to working with Dr. Newby's office and helping his patients in the future.

Definitely the worst doctor's visit I've ever had. Wouldn't listen to anything I told him just wanted to experiment on me. Didn't address half of my reasons for being there either. Just wanted to put me on depression meds. Mjst be getting a kickback from the pharmaceutical company.

He may be a good doctor, but I will never know. It took five attempts to reach someone on the phone in his office in order to make an appointment. When I finally got through, I described the kind of insurance that I had and asked if Dr. Newby accepted my plan. I was told that he did. When I arrived for my appointment and showed my card I was told that he does not accept my insurance. Obviously, the training provided to the staff was lacking.
