Sunset Cabins are original Maine Camps from the 1930's-- the heyday of sporting camps and fishing lodges. The cabins are situated on the eastern shore of Damariscotta Lake, secluded from tourist traps. They blend well among the setting of old pines and white birches and can accommodate up to 24 people dispersed between the 6 cabins.

Sunset Cabins are located in midcoast Maine about 6 miles off Route 1. The lake area is 4,625 acres with a maximum depth of 110 feet. It is home to large and smallmouth bass, yellow and white perch, lake trout, landlocked salmon, smelt, pickerel, alewife and eel. Every Spring alewifes climb up the famous alewife ladder into the lake to spawn.
Services
Take the Maine Turnpike I-95 North. Take exit 44 onto 295 North. Take exit 51 Route 156 towards Gardiner. In Gardiner cross bridge to make a right-hand turn onto Rt. 126 E. You will be driving on Rt. 126 for about 17 miles. From Rt. 126 take Rt. 32 in Jefferson. After you drive through Jefferson Village, you will see a sign on your right for "Damariscotta Lake Beach."
Sunset Cabins is a treasure. You will not find more affordable lodgings during tourist season. Location on quiet Damariscotta lake is beautiful, peaceful and great base camp for excursions to popular places. We stayed two nights straddling Labor Day. Ideal place for people who enjoy simplicity and quiet.

Nice clean place. Great sunsets. Rough Rd especially if you have a low car. Spacious, neighborly. Owner onsite. I visited a friend we had a nice time fishing. After dark fire pits are lit and everyone gathers round.

Sunset cabins are quintessential Maine. Waking up to the beauty of Damariscotta lake right outside your front porch and ending the day with the most breathtaking sunsets. We can’t wait to spend time here next summer (and every summer!)

A wonderful place. A true "Maine Camp". Not cushy, but not cushy is the Maine Camp experience. Good for the soul.

Sunset Cabins is a gem. Rustic lakeside cabins, beautiful sunsets, loons singing us to sleep, and our gracious hostess Aloisia made for a wonderful vacation. The expansive lake is great for kayaking, canoeing, swimming and fishing.
Thanks! We will be back soon again.

This woman is a flat out liar. Hannah is my Fiance and I witnessed the whole dispute. I'm not totally sure if the website says anything about dogs, but that isn't the point. I have worked in the service industry for a large portion in my life and I have never seen someone treated so badly (and In front of her whole family on the day of her grandmother's funeral which she was fully aware of) by the owner or manager of the establishment. She stated that Hannah's mother said "Hannah has a habit of general disrespect". This is simply untrue. My Fiance has worked as a psych nurse in the past and she

I've been coming here for well over a decade with my family, and we've invited friends over the years. An amazing experience every year, and the highlight of our summer. The cabins are seen rustic on the outside, but are quite cozy on the inside, with a bathtub, two sinks, wood stove, fridge, electricity, and conventional oven. Each cabin has a beautiful screen porch, access to the lake just steps away, fire pits in front of each. I cannot recommend this place enough—Aloisia is so kind and welcoming, and we always look forward to returning!

Sunset cabins is the kind of place where you go to experience lakeside Maine from a forgotten decade. Four of the cabins press right up against Damariscotta Lake, and you can listen to the sound of the water lap against the rocks of the shore as you sleep. They are comfortable, dry and smell like a mix of pinewood and vintage furniture (as classic lakefront camps should). The cabins have the basics for a relaxing week including a refrigerator, stove, wood stove, microwave, coffeemaker, electric tea kettle. I have mixed feelings about how awesome the cell service is at the lake. There is no wi-fi
