Whether you have a crew, or it's just you and your sweetie, the Lodge is a perfectly versatile spot. How can a place with 8 beds be cozy? With two bedrooms tucked away and a sleeping loft, that's how. The south-facing living space is absolutely drenched in light, and the deck off the east side draws you down to the open water marsh, with the river close by.
Nature Nooks Retreat is our way of sharing our love of the outdoors and the critters that inhabit it. We never tire of floating the West Fork through our property, looking and listening for wildlife. Hearing a deer whistle, a bald eagle's screech, an owl's hoot, the yipping of a pack of coyotes, or seeing a turtle slide into the water, a trout jump or a mink on the hunt are all pure joys - and we want to share it all with you!
Stone artifacts found on the grounds of Nature Nooks Retreat show the area has been seasonally occupied for 12,000 years. Local wildlife specialists tell us this is perhaps the single most bio-diverse property they have ever walked. Enjoy modestly maintained walking/skiing trails along the meandering mile of the Kickapoo West Fork that runs through the 87 acre property.

Positive: Quality
Beautiful land restoration and scenery all around. Cabin is cozy and amazing, though those with limited mobility may have trouble getting up the ladder to the sleeping floor. Looking forward to returning in the warmer months to hike the trails, paddle the Kickapoo and swim!

What a beautiful place Tom and Pam have. We were lucky to have found it. We stayed in the Lodge and it was spacious and well maintained. Tom has done a wonderful job restoring the property back to original prairie lands that wind along the Kickapoo River. The sites and sounds were spectacular from coyote cries to a symphony of birds and we are taking home many beautiful pictures. Thank you for sharing your treasure with us.

July 2018: We enjoyed the stunning beauty and serene, peaceful setting of Nature’s Nook. The owners are welcoming, kind, informative and clearly committed to preservation and conservancy. It’s obvious they want you to have a rich experience as opposed to a simple stay. We spent mornings on the porch listening to the symphony of birds, while the mist over the Prairie offered a stunning view. Evenings brought walks on the trails along the river, turtle watching on the pond, enjoying the sky chairs under the cottonwood tree and watching the dew settle over the gorgeous wildflowers. Cabin was nice

We had a great time at Nature Nooks Retreat. Pam and Tom have a beautiful piece of property along the West Fork of the Kickapoo. They were both very friendly and the house was nicely decorated and clean. Stayed mid-July 2017.
