Services
Major Investors contribute financial resources towards general operational costs that sustains our mission. Our 60 + Legacy Change Agent Partners collaborate to share resources that allow us to accomplish our mission. The list is printed in the Legend. MISSION: Living a legacy of life, love, literacy, and leadership. The fellowship identifies and links community youth to international leadership development supports, fosters collaborations, develops high expectations, and provides meaningful service learning and confidence building through educational enrichment opportunities.
Children are to a community, what oxygen is to life. Sure, we can survive on poor quality and can do without for a while but to thrive we need to invest in quality. Great nonprofit organization. Community based programs like Legacy are essential foundational cornerstones to the families they assist.
Our illustrious founder is not only an influential leader, community advocate, and woman upholding national civil rights and equality under the law, but she is an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend. Attorney Constance Slaughter-Harvey has a special legacy of courage, commitment, and service to her community.
ConStance Olivia Slaughter Harvey-Burwell is Legacy's Acting Executive Director. She serves as co-founder and reading consultant for Legacy Education and Community Empowerment Foundation, Inc. (Legacy) in Forest, Mississippi.

Legacy provides educational enrichment for low-wealth families of colors in rural Mississippi and worked under the umbrella organization of her late grandparent's foundation, the W. L. and O.K Slaughter Memorial Foundation incorporated over thirty years ago.Although she is in the process of defending her dissertation on the effective leadership practices of Head Start Directors in Mississippi, she specializes in community education.
