Our mission is to provide exceptional quality and compassionate health care. We offer academic quality healthcare in a hometown, intimate medical office. Dr. Smith spends considerable time with her patients, gets to know them well, and develops mutually agreed upon treatment plans. She believes your good health is the result of teamwork between you and your doctor.

We don't employ mid-level providers like nurse practioners or physician assistants - you will see the doctor every time you come to the office. With years of experience, our medical team will assess you and create a custom recovery plan that's right for you. We understand the importance of educating you on the most effective ways to take care of your body, so that you can heal quickly.
Services
Dr. Leslie Smith is board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Medical Specialties. She attended Duke University on a full scholarship for her undergraduate studies then received the UNC Board of Governor's Scholarship to attend East Carolina University, where she received her medical degree.
We put your family's health and well being first. We strive to offer the best advice and most current therapies to keep your family as healthy and safe as possible. We accept most insurance plans and Dr. Smith is on staff at Watauga Medical Center.

In addition to managing chronic conditions, our office offers physicals for work or school, well woman care with pap smears, joint injections, diabetes education, ear wax removal, skin checks and removal of small lesions, immunizations, and acute care for sore throats, colds, flu and sprains. When you choose us, you join a community.

Delighted to know Dr. Smith is protecting her patients and staff by making sure people who enter the office are vaccinated against COVID.

With the somewhat recent retirement of my doctor, I called Compassionate Care about becoming a patient. After a couple of routine questions I was asked if had taken a Covid 19 vaccine. I answered honestly…no. Was then informed the “doctor” was not seeing patients who were not vaccinated against covid. I see no “compassion” or “care” in their decision. Avoid this place like the plague if you truly want medical care.
I agree with a previous reviewer…Leslie, you need to take your oath more seriously and you really should be ashamed of yourself. Next stop, the NC Medical Board.

If I could rate 0 I would. Call yourself Compassionate Care yet you discriminate people due to their medical history (see attached).
Leslie... You should be ashamed of yourself!!
Also try doing some research on the vaccine and you will find the unvaccinated are much healthier.
If you can't see the attachment, it is your letter to existing patients in your care, refusing further treatment if they have not had the Cl9 death jab. DISGRACEFUL!

I called "Compassionate Care" today to make an appointment for a physical as a new patient. I needed a new primary care doctor in the area, as I've used ASU health services while I was a student but recently graduated. I was asked for my information, as well as what medications I am currently taking. After listing my anti-depressant and anxiety medication, I was told they do not prescribe those kind of medications so they wouldn't be able to have me as a patient. I explained I see a psychiatrist for those, so that wouldn't be an issue. I was then told, "no, we do not bring those medications into

So blessed to have Leslie as my doctor. No wait time before my appointments. The patient portal is an awesome way to communicate with her and the staff. A truly compassionate doctor.
A Blessing from above!

At the Foscoe location they don't pick up the phones too often. I was honest about medications and she was pretty rude and made sure that I knew there was no way I would get refills on pills that I needed in the past for an accident. And hello, I have not taken them for over a year! I understand as I have worked in the health field how addicts play the "GAME". But no need to be so rude out of the gate, don't assume the worst. .. Anyway the next apt. she seemed a bit nicer. The front desk is sometimes not there... very small place, unorganized. She seems knowledgeable, but can't tell at this point

Dr. Smith is wonderful! She's very approachable and down to earth. She's been my family's primary care physician for several years now, and we are very happy with the care that we've received. The practice recently moved to a new office space in Boone, so looking forward to seeing her at the more convenient location.

Dr. Smith is the most engaged and present physician I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She listens to your concerns fully and intensely, discusses what she is thinking and involves you in the decision-making around your treatment. She's not afraid to say the things that need to be said even if they are a bit uncomfortable to hear and I appreciate that in a partner for my health. I never feel rushed and often spend 15 to 30 minutes at an appointment with her. She recently discovered something that sent me to a local specialist who told me how impressed he was that she caught that particular

Dr. Smith is the absolute best. She genuinely cares about her patients. I've been with her for 2 1/2 years. She has always made me feel like a priority. She works with me as a partner to manage and improve my health. I'd recommend her to anyone. Her staff is amazing. Lena always tells me funny stories and distracts me because she knows it makes me nervous to have blood drawn. Stephanie, at the front desk, is friendly and helpful. If you need a doctor, this is the place to be.

My husband and I have nothing short of the highest regards for this doctor, Leslie Smith, and her staff. They truly are named appropriately, Compassionate Care, and live up to their name every time we need help. We highly recommend them to anyone asking about them or looking for a new doctor.
