My profession is based on precision and caring. I have spent my career developing and practicing techniques that offer my patients the highest degree of precision with the quickest recovery, the least amount of pain, the lowest complications and the best functional outcomes. My interest applies to wear and tear problems, as well as, traumatic injuries.

Some of these alternative techniques are not offered by standard orthopedic practices. These are special techniques such as robotically assisted joint replacements, two compartment partial knee replacements (instead of total knees), resurfacing arthroplasty for younger patients and cartilage transplantation for injuries and early arthritis.
Services
Many people do not understand the wide range of treatment options available to the Orthopedic Physician. Here is a summary of some of those options that range from nonsurgical treatments to limited invasive surgery. Treatments with medications include the use of Cortisone injections, Glucosamine/Chondroitin for joint health, anti-inflammatories (Motrin, Alieve, etc), custom pharmacy gels and creams for pain relief, Roostercomb and gel injections.
If surgery is necessary, knowing these instructions will make your experience more pleasant and safe. Your surgical time is subject to change; this may happen as late as the day before your scheduled surgery. We will do our best to keep the original time and date, but this is not always possible due to any emergencies that may occur.
Our office participates with BCBS, Medicare, SPHN, PPOM, Aetna, BCN, PHP and Worker's Compensation. For all other insurance carriers, the patient will be responsible for payment at the time of the appointment. However, a claim will be submitted to the insurance on the patient's behalf. Those insurance carriers that need authorization must have it done prior to the appointment otherwise the appointment will be rescheduled.
I started running with a group of ladies from Grand Ledge a couple of years ago, we call ourselves G.L.I.M.M.E.R. (Grand Ledge Insane Menopausal Moms Eager to Run). I had run in past years, but had cut way back due to a previous arthroscopic surgery on my right knee. Therefore, I wasn't sure if I would be able to run on a regular basis as the surgeon had said "NO RUNNING"!
Steven L. Drayer, M.D. was trained at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit for a wide range of orthopedic problems. He has over 30 years of experience now with rebuilding damaged joints and performing joint replacements. He is also one of the area's leading orthopedic trauma surgeons. He retrains and recertifies yearly in the most updated and specialized procedures for his patients.

Here's our story, I had a full robotic knee replacement 9 weeks ago. It was amazing the results were fantastic. My recovery time and pain overall were wonderful. I was able at 10 days to flex over 90 degrees and walk without a cane. Then my wife went in for a knee scope and after surgery Dr Drayer informed us that her arthritis was very bad and in the near future she would need a full knee. This brings us to today she just had the surgery met with Dr Drayer and it went fantastic now we are headed forward. The whole team at his office to his choice of surgery hospitals the excellent care and concerns

I thought I would never walk without pain again. And then I met Dr Steven Drayer! He replaced both of my hips this year and I couldn't be more thrilled! I feel like I've started my life over! He is an excellent surgeon and I love his staff! I am only 57 years old and I have a new lease on life... I highly recommend him!!

Dr Drayer is a professional physician who answers all questions and concerns you have. He has a phenomenal staff, that work in timely manner to get your needs taken care of. I had both of my total knee replacement surgeries done by Dr Drayer and would recommend him to anyone.
I would also recommend DMC Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital. Their staff from the time you enter until the time you are released are caring and treat you as if you were their only patient. I have never received the quality of care as I experienced at DMC hospital.

I am writing this review on Thanksgiving Day 2020 on purpose, because I am so thankful that Dr. Drayer (with a bit of help from a robot) performed my total knee replacement surgery exactly two weeks ago. I am so happy with Dr. Drayer's services, as well as those of his staff, that I did not want to wait until I am back on a golf course again to write this review! Dr. Drayer was kind, caring, knowledgeable, compassionate, answered my every question, and was backed up by a staff that displays the same qualities. I would mention names but for the fear of omitting someone who I didn't meet who may

Dr Drayer performed a total knee replacement August 2020 on me. This was my fourth knee operation completed by 4 different doctors. Dr Drayer is down to earth and prepares patients for the rigors of this procedure very well. You can tell he enjoys helping his patients. He has a dynamic team backing him up. His nurse, Halle, is great and Sam his Physical Therapist along with his assistant, another Halle are excellent. The nice part about Sam is he practices in Dr Drayer’s office so any questions are easily answered up to 7 to 8 weeks post-op.

I would like to thank not only Doctor Steven Drayer who was the surgeon for my recent total hip replacement but, a great deal of thanks to his entire staff. True, Doctor Drayer did the diagnosis and performed the surgery and he did a magnificent job in all respects. However, his office staff, nurses and all others also need to be complimented for their roles during the entire process. What a wonderful team of professionals that’s available to meet the needs of the patient. Every time I went to the office I was greeted with a friendly hello, every question was professionally answered with great

I opted for the Mako Robotic knee surgery and am very happy that I made this decision- less invasive and faster recovery. My right knee was operated on in early March and my left knee was done in late May. I had a wonderful recovery, minimal pain and I'm so glad that I had them both taken care of - it's behind me now and I can get on without the previous pain. Dr. Drayer is fantastic! My scarring is minimal compared to some that I've seen in online support group pages. I would recommend Dr. Drayer and the robotic option for any joint replacement issues you may have.

Pleasant workers; Dr Drayer is patient, kind, and will explain anything you want to know about your procedure. He’s done knee surgeries on both of my husbands knees plus I had a partial knee replacement with robotic surgery. I didn’t have to stay in the hospital - out the same day. It’s healed very well and coming along good. Dr Drayer sent me to rehab afterwards. I wouldn’t go anywhere else to have this surgery. He’s a compassionate Doctor If your a candidate ROBOTIC SURGERY is definitely the way to go!

I would not recommend this business. Drayer is one of the rudest, most unprofessional doctors we have ever dealt with. He literally looks down his nose at you when he speaks as if you are some annoyance he has to deal with in order to get your money. He yelled at my wife when she asked reasonable questions about the procedure even going so far as to stand up over her and pointing down in an intimidating manner for bothering to question him. The hospital staff was appalled and two attendants present later came into my wife's room to apologize and stress that they are in no way affiliated
