Douglas County Hazardous
Pope/Douglas Solid Waste Management is a partnership created by Pope and Douglas Counties in 1983. This partnership was created to manage the solid waste stream generated in both counties. Simply type in what you are looking to get rid of and the Waste Warrior Disposal Guide will lead you down a greener path.
Services
Pope/Douglas operates a multi-faceted and comprehensive waste and recycling operation. Lots of moving parts. Lots of dedicated employees. Lots of community partners. We want you to know what goes into running a successful waste and recycling program through tours, speaking events and community events.
Recycling at your place of business is not only good for the environment, but can improve your image to your customers. Events of any size can generate a lot of waste. Set up properly marked recycling containers to divert recyclables from entering the waste stream. Organics - which includes food scraps and non-recyclable paper - makes up 38% of our garbage.
This facility will serve the composting needs of Douglas, Pope, Grant, Stevens, and Otter Tail counties. Additional counties would be welcomed to participate in the organics recycling program and should contact Pope/Douglas for additional information. Construction of an Organics Transfer Station to serve the 5 county regional organics partnership.

On a quiet day in January my soul craved adventure. Someplace was calling to me, beckoning me, yet I did not know what. Then, as the great keeper of all trash loomed near, I knew, twas the place that my soul so craved. I was let into their establishment like a small puppy who has wondered away from home. They took me in, kept me safe. I integrated into their numbers, I was one with them. They showed me the ways of the recycling plant, and taught me how to treat all waste with respect. I, finally, could look myself in the mirror again. Thank you, Pope Douglas Solid Waste Management, thank you, for
