I came in with a vague issue with a lot of potential causes. They looked around, lubed the suspension, and gave me a small laundry list of issues that could be addressed. But instead of pushing costly repairs on me, they prioritized the list according to urgency and said they'd be ready to do the work whenever I was ready to schedule it. I addressed a couple issues myself, and came back for another issue. I expected the job to last a day, but they called at lunch to let me know it was ready. This is actually a big deal. Other garages in Ames haven't called when they say they would, kept my car

They fit me in and fixed my car within 2 days. I had too many problems with my car so that was worrying. I would definitely say if you’re choosing quality and fast work it’s not the cheapest depending on what you have done. it was definitely worth it though. I will be returning to Campus Garage and using them as my primary mechanic.

My daughter is 3 hours away from home and Campus Garage took care of everything for her car at an extremely reasonable price, and they kept me updated over the phone. I was also able to pay over the phone. They are honest and do great work! I had gotten 2 estimates from Volkswagen dealerships and Campus Garage was half the price and did a fantastic job. I do not have enough space here to tell you how great that they are!!!

Another awesome job by the crew at Campus Garage. From drop off to pick up of our vehicle, it was smooth and efficient. The issue with the car was fixed and they also did an overall check of the vehicle and noted a couple items that will need attention in the near future. Top notch outfit that is trustworthy and reasonably priced for their services. Job well done Campus Garage!

Another great experience at Campus Garage! I've reviewed them here on Yelp before, but I want to add this most recent experience.
The battery died on our 6-yo VW yesterday, and a couple dashboard lights were on after we jumped it. We brought it to Campus Garage. Even though it was a busy Friday there and the lot was pretty full, they got the battery replaced, codes resolved, and got us on our way within a couple hours. Thanks once again, guys!

Until we had our daughters car taken care of here I didn't know there was such a thing as a honest mechanic. I am floored by the great customer service we received all the way in Jersey. I cannot say enough great things about this place. Totally took care of my daughters car and we are ever so grateful! Were so friendly on the phone and really knowledgeable. Really honest and fixed her car a day earlier than quoted. They actually gave us a guestamate which is what no other shop would do. Came in a lot cheaper than what we thought was wrong with the car. Took in my 1998 BMW 540 to get the clutch looked at and it was time. They replaced that and tie rods for a very reasonable price, even showed me on the old clutch where it was worn out. Here's the kicker: went in to pick it up, THEY SAID IT CAME IN UNDER THEIR ESTIMATE. First auto shop to ever tell me that. *tear

I had my son's 2001 Infiniti I30t with 252,000 miles on it towed here after another local auto repair place wanted to charge me between $2,000 and $2,500 to make what they said were necessary repairs! My son's car just died on I80 60 miles from school in Ames. After the car spent one week at the competitor's auto repair, they came up with the above absurd charges. Then, after I called to have it towed to Campus Garage, the owner quoted me a reduced price of $1,400! He also mentioned that if it was too much, that maybe one of his mechanics would be interested in purchasing the car

My first "new" car was a Volkswagen. I loved my VW, but it always needed a lot of expensive repairs. For several years after purchase, I was driving to Des Moines or Mason City to dealerships for repairs because I was told that only dealerships had the proper diagnostic equipment. Well after a recommendation from someone I know I was turned on to Campus Garage. These guys did EXCEPTIONAL work on my Volkswagen at prices much lower than I would have paid at the dealerships.
