Insertional Achilles Tendinosis is inflammation of the Achilles tendon at its attachment to the heel bone. The Achilles tendon is very important, it is the largest and strongest tendon in the body and responsible for lifting the entire body weight with every step. Tendons carry a lot of weight. That also means when they get injured, you definitely feel their loss.
There are actually many effective treatments for foot arthritis without surgery being necessary. Conservative care is always our first option, and surgery is reserved as a "last resort" for eliminating pain. Shoe changes, pads, and orthotics are some of the most common remedies. They change the foot's support, helping reduce impacts on your lower limbs while absorbing shock.
At Gulf South Foot & Ankle we are dedicated to helping you with all your foot and ankle problems. Take I-10 East to Exit 226 Clearview Parkway South. Merge onto Clearview Pkwy. South. Stay in far right lane and turn onto Wabash St. (directly before the first signal light) and continue to Harvard Ave.

Extremely pleased with the professionalism of the entire staff. Dr. Willis successfully relieved my anxiety by thoroughly explaining the procedure I was to undergo. He was very supportive during the post op period, and most importantly, the procedure was successfully done and I'm pain free! Thank you all for being so nice!

Covington, LA office. The staff is very courteous and helpful. Dr. Charles Caplis is the most professional and knowledgeable podiatrist I have seen over my 20+ years of dealing with intermittent plantar fasciitis. He offered options for treatment and I chose aggressive treatment. In the last month my foot is much improved after following his plan (two injections, twice daily exercises and icing, night splint, and correct footwear choices). He had a detailed list of footwear for all kinds of activities and for my specific foot structure. If this treatment plan doesn't completely cure the problem

My heels have always bothered me after being on my feet for too long. The staff was very friendly, courteous and informative from the front to the back. I was able to be seen on a Saturday so I didn't have to change my hectic patient schedule. Dr. Watkins and Katie took great care of me getting my orthotics made in just a few weeks before a trip to Disney with my family. They saved me a lot of pain and discomfort for that week. I highly recommend Dr. Watkins and Dr. Markiewicz as they are excellent physicians and truly care about each and every patient.

All of the staff at Gulf South Foot and Ankle were very personable. From the front desk staff to the nurse to Dr Watkins, they all were friendly and accommodating. I didn't have to wait long for my appointment, yet was not rushed when it was my time. I was explained thoroughly my plan of treatment. I felt I made the right decision choosing them.

I can not thank Gulf South Foot & Ankle, and the Harvard Surgery Center enough! I had a schwannoma tumor (a rare benign nerve tumor) . After visiting over 10 doctors and specialists I came to see Dr. Caplis. Up until then, no doctor would even offer to perform surgery to remove the tumor. With one visit from Dr. Caplis, he felt confident that he and Dr. Watkins could perform the surgery. With any surgery, there are always risks, but both Dr. Watkins and Dr. Caplis felt very confident that they could remove the tumor successfully. This tumor had caused 4+ years of chronic nerve pain, and because
