The Westcliffe Center for the Performing Arts (WCPA) was incorporated in 1992 and received its not-for-profit status the following year. The WCPA is housed in the Historic Jones Theater and in the adjoining Studio 2 at 2nd and Main Streets in Westcliffe, Colorado. Our goal is to provide a Center for the Performing Arts in the picturesque Wet Mountain Valley of Colorado.
We encourage new playwrights and provide classes and theater training each summer through the co-operation of local universities. WCPA provides a full summer season of plays, music, dance and classic as well as year-round first-run motion pictures. We produce both new plays and musicals as well as seasoned favorites: comedy, drama, melodrama and one man and woman shows.

The mission of the Westcliffe Center for the Performing Arts (WCPA) is to enhance the quality of life for people in the contiguous rural towns of Westcliffe and Silver Cliff, Custer County, and surrounding counties through regular cultural events and artistic performances, and to provide activities for children, youths, and families.
The Westcliffe Center for the Performing Arts serves as a home for the performing arts in a community where none existed before. Some of our goals are to introduce local young people and adults to, and train them in, acting, directing, and production in music, dance, and drama.
In addition to WCPA-sponsored happenings, we make the Jones Theater available each year for events, dance, music, plays, and other performances by community and outside performing arts groups.

First up for 2021 is The Shadow of the Hummingbird, by South African playwright Athol Fugard, most famous in this country for his plays Blood Knot and Master Harold and the Boys. The Shadow of the Hummingbird is a one-act two-character play featuring an elderly writer ("Oupa, " loosely based on Fugard himself) who is visited by his grandson ("Boba").

Fun and unique small town experience to watch a movie here at the Jones Theater. They occasionally show old movies, like the Western movie Cat Ballou starring Jane Fonda, which was filmed here in Westcliffe, and local theatre productions. Otherwise, they have a nice diverse selection of first run movies. And the family who runs the movies showings, Friday/Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon, are super nice and accommodating.
