Services
Ruben's carries amazing foods from all over the world, but you don't always have time or know how to cook them yourself, so let us invite you to visit some of our friends that source delicious food from Ruben's! Chef Eugenio of El Divino creates seasonal dishes from the freshest ingredients that he personally shops for.
Alaskan King Crab is coming to Ruben's Grocery in October! This is the HUGE crab you see on the TV show The Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel. Only 5% of the world's crab comes from the Bering Sea (where this crab is coming from in Alaska). Ruben and his dad have personally gone to Dutch Harbor to unload these beasts and inspect, first-hand, the process they demand for finding the biggest and best King Crabs in the world!

Spent several hours driving to various stores looking for Rose Water without luck. Decided to try an international foods type store and Ruben's was the closest on my map. Not only did I find what I was looking for, but I was also able to purchase other specialty items I normally buy online. Staff are super friendly, will definitely be back.

This shop has been around forever, I grew up going to it as a child. As an adult it's worth the drive from N McAllen for hard to find items. They've created such a speciality market with items that you can't easily find at HEB. They've got a great variety of foods and supplies from all of Central/South America/Carribean. From Mexican candies, to florida style avocades, yucca, tunas/prickly pears, and clay pottery cazuelas. Hidden gem

This is where you can find the best customer service, which is hard to find here in the RGV! This store is well stocked with a variety of foods and wines from all over the world. If you can't find what you are looking for and it's within their means, they will certainly get it for you. Ruben's Grocery Store is the model of outstanding customer service! Congrats!

Ruben’s grocery offers some choice items from all around the world. Eclectic and rooted in Hispanic culture, there is so much to see, find and try at Ruben’s specialty grocery store. More than a market with fresh cut meats and select ingredients and seasonings; it’s a fun adventure for anyone visiting the Rio Grande Valley.

I've heard of this store before, in how you can find some things you normally don't in many mexican stores. I decided to stop to buy carrots and oxtail for caldo. The store was a bit difficult to maneuver and I wasn't thrilled with the quality of the carrots. Overall I was not impressed but disappointed. It did not help that as I was checking out the ladies were complaining about some customer. Really unprofessional. I gave it 3 stars because I did see certain roots and items I have not seen in other places but ill stick to la michoacana or juniors they have better vegetable

Fantastic hidden gem with folks that are willing to help. We went in for some goat cheese and steaks and met Ruben who was so fun and energetic! This is our new "go to place" for wine, cheese, and meat while we are in the valley. Fantastic variety of eclectic hard to find delicacies we haven't seen in Texas. He has a great wine selection and some of the best goat cheeses we have seen. When he told us about the Alaska king crab he made a patron for life. We will be back.

Went I the first time, and I found the smell of the place off-putting; it smelled like meat. There is a meat station in the back. And this is the way a meat market should smell. But I'm just so used to the sanitized versions we have now at grocery stores. Here the meat smells like meat should.
The grocery items there are great! I need to go by again when I have an hours time to spend there. My boyfriend found his favorite German snack candy here!
I will definitely return, and I will update this review. It took me a year to make it here. Hahaha!

This is a crazy place! I first went here for a cut of "arrachera fajitas" and I've been back 5 times now. I'll break it down in a couple sections because my mind is always scrambling after every visit.
1. Meat market, they have everything! Goat, bacon, arracherra fajitas. My first time there I was told they sell the elusive arracherra fajita. When I went to ask, the butcher asked how much and how I wanted it cut. He saw a glaze over my eyes and suggested the fajita cut. Awesome. I noticed the newspaper cutting posted on the wall, they import Alaskan king crab (overnight

I am soooo in love with the grocery store! First of all, they have a nice selection of argentine goodies. I was blown away to be able to get alfajores, such a great assortment. Then! I got to meet the owners, such awesome guys! so much fun to talk to them :) they make the mom and pop store such a great place to have in McAllen. I was also very nicely surprised to see they have made their own argentine chorizo, I made a choripan~ man, oh man~ I was in heaven for a bit. Everytime I go by, find another little treasure. This place has a variety of spices and goodies from all over latin countries. Gotta

Never been there, but have ordered very specific food items from south america and have received them promptly without any problems and shipping fees are very reasonable. the website needs maintenance, so you need to call to order, but you can get just about anything from Ruben's. Good operation as far as I can tell. I will be ordering from them again and again.

The only grocery store for all of your Latinamerican culinary needs.
Pickled chicken feet, Uruguayan sugar cookies, yerba mate tea, homemade corn chips, Mexican sugar skulls, Argentine meat rub, Cuban mops (I kid you not), Peruvian beer....literally anything you need out of South and Central America (yes, and Mexico), Ruben's has it.
Be warned the surrounding area is also very appropriate in that you feel like you're driving through a Colombian slum. But there's a security guard in the parking lot and I've never had a problem. Reasonable prices for things you'd otherwise
