Family Medical Center of Hart County was founded in 1977 by Dr. James Middleton Jr. As a native of the Hart County community, Dr. Middleton wanted to come home to take care of his own friends, family and neighbors.

He also holds a doctorate degree from the University of Kentucky and is a member of the Americn Academy of Family Physicians as well as being certified through the American Board of Family Medicine. Coming to Hart County as the first pediatrician in 1980 having graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Went in with itching all over and no bumps...didn't do blood work, didn't arrange an allergy test..just told me "it was all in my head" and sent me off with a prescription of Zoloft.(not filling it). Wasted my time and money to leave feeling humiliated with no real answer. After years as a patient, I won't be going back.

I came in to get a rapid covid test in order to travel abroad. I was asked to wait in two different waiting rooms, had my vitals taken twice, and was asked why I was here twice. Finally, after TWO HOURS I had to find someone to ask them why I was still waiting in the exam room for a covid test! Sheesh, this place in unbelievably unorganized. Two stars however, because the people are extremely nice.

I had an accident on a Saturday afternoon that required several stitches and what I thought was going to be an ER visit and possibly surgery. They got me right in and Dr. Middleton cleaned the wound up and stitched it right up. I was amazed at how professional and efficient the visit was. Such nice folks and accommodating. I was in and out in less than an hour and a half. I couldn't have driven back and forth to the nearest ER in that time. What a blessing they are for the community. If I lived in the area, they would be my first choice for a family doctor.
