The Italian Pizzeria III is a Chapel Hill tradition. Brothers Angelo and Vincenzo Marrone have been serving up authentic Italian pizza in Chapel Hill since 1980. IP3 has a full menu of fresh-dough pizza and other Italian specialties. Try a baked speciality such as manicotti, or a plate of Shrimp alla Fradiavola, another house specialty.
And don't forget the Ravioli alla Napoli, with chicken, bacon, ham, and fresh tomato in a pink cream sauce. IP3 has pitcher specials on a good selection of draft beer, including Yuengling, Sam Adams, and Bud Light. Chapel Hill's best, most legendary, greatest pizza and greatest cheese steak spot in town comes to life in this short film.

Excellent. We are originally from Brooklyn and Long Island NY and now live in Florida and was visiting the Chapel Hill area for a wedding. I have to say that we can not find any pizza like this pizza back in Florida. This pizza was one of the best outside of NY that we ever had. Even my father in law who is from Sicily and owned his own pizza place in Brooklyn for years was impressed. The place was packed so the locals even enjoy it. Definitely try it you will not be disappointed.
A must try enjoy.

While on vacation in Pinehurst my wife and I decided to take part of the day and drive to Chapel Hill for lunch. Being a fan of the UNC Tar Heels it was a very easy choice when we decided to enjoy some excellent pizza somewhere near the UNC campus. After reading the Yelp reviews of IP3 I definitely knew this was the place for us. Located on Franklin St which is the popular hangout for the students and where a lot people have celebrated past Tar Heel basketball National Championships Italian Pizzeria III is very easy to get to. When you walk the first thing you notice is all the pictures and other

Yelp did not steer us wrong when it led us to Italian Pizzeria III on Franklin Street. This pizzeria has been a Chapel Hill institution since 1980. Just take a look at all of the (mostly) Carolina basketball memorabilia on the walls, whether it be signed jerseys, photos of one of the owners with UNC coaches Roy Williams and Mack Brown, and even Harrison Barnes dropping by the restaurant with the Larry O'Brien NBA championship trophy. Honestly, seeing that last picture online is what really piqued my interest in this place. I just knew I had to visit after that.

We got a large veggie pizza to-go. Even at the checkout, the man helping us was really genuine in asking how we were doing and making sure we got the right order. The pizza had yummy toppings that were chopped to the right size and the cheese was the right amount. The crust was a light golden color and bready in texture. Overall we all enjoyed the pizza but it was also not the best pizza we've ever had.

Horrendous establishment. Despite confirming an order via doordash and a driver going to pickup my order after 50 minutes, the restaurant just told the driver they were "too busy". When I called to inquire about when we could get our food the man who answered was unapologetic and just said "we are too busy", and didnt even offer a reason as to why our order wasnt canceled or we were at least notified. This is not how you conduct business. Steer clear, I will not be returning here and will be telling everyone I know in the area not to go here.

As I understand this is NY style pizza, though I am not from that area so I'd like to disclaim that I've rarely had what I consider to be bad pizza. To me, IP3 is SO good. The sauce is full of flavor and the taste of the crust reminds me of an unsalted saltine cracker (in the best possible way!)
We got the every day deal, which was 2 large cheese pizzas for $20. Great portions for that price. I'd like to go back and try the Sicilian pizza as well.
The one downside is on one of our pizzas there were a couple stray pieces of meat in the box (I'm a pretty strict vegetarian)

This is the best pizza I have found in Chapel Hill. The Marrone brothers have run this pizzeria for 30 plus years and their dedication and love of Italian food shows. Located on Franklin Street near Carrboro, UNC photos and team logos line the walls with memorabilia and they have big TVs to watch Italian soccer. They greet you with an exuberant Ciao and take great care of you. We ordered takeout and had cheese pizzas and spaghetti with clams. Pick between red or white vongole - both are delicious. It was the best vongole outside of Italy I have eaten. The pizza special is two large cheese pizzas

I mean, how could you not love this place... "IP3- Place To Be!"
A staple on Franklin St that's been here for decades, it's run by the sweetest brother duo and their family. They remember everyone that comes in, they truly are Chapel Hill family.
Even better than their amazing service- the pizza! They do an amazing crispy thin cheesey slice of heaven. Don't skip the garlic bread either! With amazing prices and perfect pizza, this is worth a visit.
